Issuing a refund question

Hello, I am issuing a refund but I do not want to pay shipping on the return. Do I have this choice and if so how do I manage the process? Thank you

What sort of return did the buyer open? If it was a not as described return you would have two options pay the return shipping and refund the purchase plus what the buyer original paid for shipping when you receive the item back or refund what the buyer paid including original shipping and let them keep the item.

LOL I believe  they utilized the not as described option which is a lie. Their explanation being a used  (over 60 years old in very  good condition) denim jacket not being as described is that it "showed evidence of shrinkage". In my forty years of selling used denim I have never heard such a term or even a term closely related. Much less as reason for dissatisfaction. They are not saying it does not fit or size was misrepresented.  One wash of any denim should produce such "evidence" or it would not be real denim.  For me to pay beyond the loss of actually marketing to an honest or sane, preferably both, customer is just beyond the far reach of reasonable conduct. But I thank you for your time.

Hold the phone. You're telling me that you're refunding for the $350 denim jacket without requiring a Return? ðŸ˜²

honestly, I don't think I have seen one post asking about a refund protocol, that did not say

"I believe it is a lie" regarding the Description discrepancy.....

I am doubting or picking on you, it's just always the same....that's all...get back your vintage item and resell it to someone who appreciates it

Because the buyer filed "not as described" whether true or not, you are obligated to pay for return shipping (if you want the item back) plus issue a full refund upon receipt of the return.

There's no way around it.

I have done nothing but tell the customer my faith in humanity is "experiencing shrinkage" at the moment and the I have until March 6 to decide what to do. And seek help right here on losing 30 in shipping.

If you don't want to pay return shipping, you can just issue a full refund to the buyer and let them keep the item.

You wouldn't have any doubt about the lie if you looked at the listing. My forty year record, including the short one year plus selling here. I would never expect blind trust, but I earned trust in this case easilly verified with that listing with regard to the kind of complaint they give. I or any established seller simply should not be out postal money for this in addition to lost time.

It is what it is, I'll refund and raise the price, pass it on as added cost of product to next customer.

I looked at the listing. I also looked at your return policy and saw that you don't accept returns.

Often, buyers who see a "no return" policy assume they need a reason to return an item they don't like, doesn't fit, changed mind, etc. But since you don't accept returns, they choose one of the "not as described" choices.

"It is what it is, I'll refund and raise the price, pass it on as added cost of product to next customer."

That's a good choice for you. (Don't refund before you receive the item back. If you issue the refund before the buyer sends it back, they get to keep it plus they get the refund.)

Glad you aren't considering a refund without getting that jacket back. I don't think the postage will be $30, either. ðŸ™Œ

I'd not put off approving the Return (until March 6), and do approve of repricing and relisting when it comes back. Good luck.

Once a not as described return is opened, if the seller does not respond in the time frame given, eBay WILL deduct the full amount from the sellers account and let the buyer keep the item.
