Is there a way to reopen a case?

Hi. I purchased two 1940s EXIT signs and one of them arrived broken on October 30th. I messaged the seller right away with pictures that have a time and date stamp on them and the seller immediatly responded back and asked if I thought a 50% partial refund is fair, and I agreed.

About a week went by and I never got my partial refund.

Messaged back and no response.

waited 5 days, sent a message and no response.

I opened up a return request and the seller messaged me back on the last day saying they will give me my refund the next day. I messaged back in two days and they tried but said they could not because a case was opened automatically, and asked if I had Facebook pay. I don't so I closed the case for them.

2 days go by send a reminder that it is closed and they can refund. No response.

Another day goes by and I send another reminder. This one is this morning. No response again.

Should I open another return request? Or is there another way to reopen the case, or notify eBay of what is going on? I have been using ebay since 2007 and never had an issue until now.

No @sempaul_2600 you can only start one return request on eBay.

The best way to get your refund is to file a Defective or Not As Described chargeback with your card issuer and send them a copy of the seller's promise to refund. In a chargeback, the seller is responsible for return shipping if they want it back.

Or start another return request here at PayPal

-- if that's how you paid, and

-- you don't mind paying return shipping to get your refund

before filing the chargeback.

Re: Is there a way to reopen a case?

Sorry, you only get one shot at a return and since you closed the case, there's nothing else you can do through Ebay.

If you paid through Pay Pal, open a case with them or contact your credit card.

Have a great day.

You closed the case so you blew your chances of a refund on eBay.

Re: Is there a way to reopen a case?

Having a case opened does not prevent them from refunding. Indeed, if they hit the refund button you get a refund and it closes the case. They tricked you into closing the case and now eBay can't  help.

You'll have to dispute the charge with your payment source.

Re: Is there a way to reopen a case?

Once closed it can never be reopened.  NEVER do that.   If you paid by credit card, contact your card company.
