How the heck does filing a damage claim with UPS work?

I haven't had to file a damage claim in years but had to do one recently with UPS. For whatever reason, the site stopped me and said a claim can't be filed at this time. Got on the phone with a rep#1 and they filed and got the claim approved. They said wait for an email with instructions on payment(I guess how to pay me) info for me to fill out. Never got an email. Called again and rep#2 sent the email but the form needed a claim number and account number. I have some sort of account with UPS because I can log into the site, but I don't see an account number anywhere on my profile or account settings page... plus I was never given a claim number. Called again and rep#3 said yes, the claim was approved but since the label was done through Ebay, they are considered the shipper and the claim refund would go to them. Neither of the other reps had mentioned this. I called Ebay and the rep said the funds should appear in my seller account within 30 days(likely within 7-10 business days though). Is this how the process works with all damage claims and how the funds are given back to buyers, or should I have done this process a different way to get a check cut direct to me in the mail?

Per/UPS we cannot submit your claim at this time. Please make sure your information is accurate.

Otherwise contact your channel partner (UPS:E040 (UPS:E022)

 

SOLUTION: UPS Claim MUST click on e commerce with (your) ebay email address

Claim went through UPS * It's a MIRACLE

I now ship Large/Heavy items through FedEx ONLY.

ebay customer service is un-aware of this correct procedure; neither is UPS aware of this correct procedure.

HOPE this HELPS ebay seller's shipping via UPS with Damage and/or Lost Package(s)

(FACT: There is NO Personal Phone Contact available at UPS)

Don't know much about UPS claims, but I know you need to sign up for a UPS account using the same email address as your Ebay account.

Other then that, I don't know.

 I feel your pain I've been back and forth with UPS and eBay on this for the last month it seems like. UPS agent told me that I needed to call eBay and have eBay change the address from theirs to mine so I can get paid I said wait let me get this straight so you're telling me I just need to call eBay and let them know that their address needs to be taken off of whatever it is and then mine just needs to put on there so they can pay me? She said yeah i said OK that's ridiculous but you know what i'm gonna go ahead and do that because you don't know anything else about this or what to do. Called ebay they said guess what that sounds ridiculous i said i know, but they said to call ebay to resolve this. I call back UPS they tell me my claims canceled and they directed me to another line that's only open on the weekdays. So i called back this time slightly livid because it's not easy to get people on the phone as you know with UPS and she told me that my check was sent to eBay I said what am I supposed to do call eBay and just tell him to look in the basket for my check because you know it's a small place? She said I don't know Sir but you need to call eBay. I said i know i i've done that already and I said you know the eBay is just a an advertising kind of a marketing platform you know they don't actually own anything right it's just that's who we sell through because they have you know worldwide reach anyway things went on nothing's happened now I'm gonna call eBay for them to tell me something like I don't know where your check is I have no idea so that's what I'm looking forward to.

I'm talking to text I hope that made sense I'm just super frustrated you would think they would have dealt with this when they had the contract or whatever with UPS and that their names gonna be on the shipping label but don't send claim checks to them, but instead send it to the actual person's name would be the one they need to ship them up money to because they're not involved well they are but they're involved in every way possible and with the shipping thing now they got their little fingers and everything so it's impossible to get your money from them so mad...

Here is a 2nd Reply & the TRUTH about UPS Damage Claim

I sent buyer a Brand New Genuine GM PONTIAC Firebird Deck Lid Air SPOILER @ $ 475.00 in a GM BOX; Shipping was FREE to Buyer * My Cost $ 44.26

ITEM was Destroyed/Damaged by UPS * Buyer was OKAY with $ 100.00 partial Refund & buyer was able to repair damage on Air SPOILER. Buyer already repaired Air SPOILER & installed on the car.

I Filed a UPS Damage Claim for $ 519.26 * UPS online Claim Status is still UNAVAILABLE to view.....

 

UPS FALSIFIED Item was NOT shipped in a Factory Box - UN-TRUE

UPS FALSIFIED Item DAMAGE PICS down loaded to UPS were un-acceptable - UN-TRUE

UPS FALSIFIED states: Item was shown returned back to UPS Damage Claim Center with a FALSE UPS Track# for inspection...... - UN-TRUE

FACT/TRUTH: Neither the Buyer NOR me the shipper returned this Air SPOILER. The Air SPOILER ha sbeen already installed on the PONTIAC Firebird.

 

The BEST is for LAST........... UPS CHARGED ME ADDITIONAL $ 44.26 (through ebay) FOR THE AIR SPOILER THAT WAS NEVER RETURNED TO UPS DAMAGE CLAIM CENTER FOR INSPECTION...........................................

ebay is going to try to get my $ 44.26 reversed & Refunded from UPS (I won't HOLD MY BREATHE)

To Avoid all Headaches Problems/Trouble (NO UPS customer Service)  DO NOT, DO NOT SHIP via UPS

I have had the smae issue and did everything as stated but get the same error message

spent hours talkign to reps from ebay and UPS neither have been helpful

 

they say go to the portal and file a claim

It does not work. I've tried that mulitple times making sure my ebay email address matches along with name and address.  I'm still getting the same error.
