I got a buyer who claims item doesn’t fit his car. He pictured different plugs in his original climate (mind - he cut off the part nr sticker so manufacturing date is not visible) and pictures his plug and back of his original climate. He claims he has 2004 sierra and climate doesn’t fit his car.
Climate he purchased is fully digital and doesn’t have ever plug that he pictured. Upon quick Ebay search, I found climate with plug he pictured and that is not digital climate.https://www.ebay.com/itm/204206041420?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=_vcbkxt1tvc&sss...
i pointed it to the buyer and asked him to pick reason “changed mind” for return as my climate is described correctly . I accept returns and return for this is free. He told me he will return it and will be happy not to deal with me again. 🤔 what say you?

I wouldn’t worry about how he feels. I will bet he’s going to say it’s defective so you will have to pay to get ot back….
If he actually pays to return. Give him the refund and I would block him.

i worry because every false returns has consequences. My return policy on this is: 30 days free. After asking him not to pick doesn’t fit reason he picked “doesn’t fit”. I am definitely reporting him.

Unfortunately ebay does nothing about false returns. They have no way of knowing who’s being truthful so they favor the buyer.
I don’t get many returns so I’m not sure of what percentage of sales becomes too much and ebay does something (?) to a seller.

Does this case ”doesn’t fit” equal to “not as described”?
01-10-2023 05:19 PM
'Doesn't Fit' is typical 'remorse' and is NOT the same as 'Not As Described'.
Know that GM makes changes to parts mid stream/year all the time as well as different 'models' do different things (ie. 'Auto Climate Control' on some higher end models vs. 'NOT' on others- which could mean a plug variance).
Also, most people just 'know' what they need but haven't "got into it yet" to "compare" plugs etc.
I know I had a 2003 Beamer and the $400 part the dealer wanted- a bit of google and found I could 'replace' the AC module myself- buy it from somewhere in TX for $50. I did NOT dig under the dash until I had item in hand.
Same with my sons 2013 Honda Civic Window switch- buy it first, then open up the door panel.
Most EVERYONE will buy this way.

you may missed that that Ebay is making changes to parts and accessories on “doesn’t fit” cases being couted against the seller. @valueaddedresource had thread on it. It first started in Australia. And I remeber that Ebay put me in Australia while ago and I was affected by this then. They were to make changes to US. Doesn’t fit counts against seller when seller has no ebay fitment- I believe
maybe I am a part of test again?

The climate type he bought has issue with backlight/illumination and so I sell them upgraded.
what upsets me is that doesn’t fit may become not as described and be another punishment that may affect sales. Ebay needs to fix such returns that can be exploited. Buyer is rude. He buys wring item. I tell him to return for free and he is spitefully picking reason to show me his disregard as if I am at fault or I was preventing him from returning. Unbelievable

@partfinds it might, but not enough info here to know for sure.
Did you have seller paid or buyer paid returns on that item?
If you had seller paid, it would require you to provide a pre-label either way.
If you had buyer paid, "doesn't fit" would not require you to provide a pre-paid label if they are still counting it as a buyer's remorse reason, but would require to provide it if they were counting it as not as described.
If you can't use the label requirement to determine, you'll have to look to see if eBay counts that case against you on your Service Metrics as Not As Described.
My guess is probably not, just based on the info we have from the test where they said it showed as "doesn't fit my vehicle" instead of just "doesn't fit".

Doesn’t fit is pretty ambiguous, not as described means the seller described it wrong.
if I had to pick one of those two I would say doesn’t fit

i offer 30 days free returns on this item so I can’t figure from label whether case becomes seller fault.
“My guess is probably not, just based on the info we have from the test where they said it showed as "doesn't fit my vehicle" instead of just "doesn't fit".”
i have never seen reason “ doesn’t fit my vehicle” as choice even when I was punished for such “doesn’t fit “ case. It was still listed “doesn’t fit “ as choice except that buyer added in comment it doesn’t fit his car. And metrics report stated case as not as described although it was doesn’t fit
here buyer does excatly that see screnshot I uploaded earlier. He states it doesn’t fir and then states “wiring harness not compatible”. Who is responsible for matching plugs? Is ebay fitment mentions that? I sell some radios that look alike and fitment states they both fit same car but VIN reveals that only one of that is compatible with VIN.

The seller pays return postage for Not As Described cases.
These reasons always add a defect to your metrics.
1: Doesn't work or defective
2: Doesn't match description or photos
3: Wrong item sent
4: Missing parts or pieces
5: Arrived damaged
6: Doesn't seem authentic
The buyer pays return postage for Buyer Remorse cases.
If the seller offers Free Returns, then the seller pays return postage.
These reasons never add a defect to your metrics.
A) Doesn't fit
B) Changed my mind
C) Found a better price
D) Just didn't like it
E) Ordered by mistake

You should look at this thread https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/New-Return-Policy-Seller-Protections-For-Parts-amp-Accessories.... I know from my own experinece

My Seller Hub > Performance > Seller Level tab shows all returns.
My Seller Hub > Performance > Service Metrics tab shows a lesser amount of returns.
My return label cost, or lack thereof, has been consistant with the reasons stated above, performed as expected, for me.
