Close return request to get a partial refund

Hi,

I got a defective SSD and opened a return request. The seller offered me to make a 60% partial refund and to keep the item. He's asking me to close the return request first because he says he can't do a partial refund while there is an open return request.

I'm concerned that if I close the return request, he won't do the refund.

Please advise.

If a return request is accepted (or automatically accepted), the only way to issue partial refund is to ask the buyer to close the request, then the seller can issue the partial refund.
