Buyer returned the wrong item

 

Hello. I recently sold a spare part for a G Class, but the part did not fit and the buyer returned it.
The buyer attached a photo after sending it back.
Today I picked up the part, but it is not the part I sent. It is the same part, but it has damage, scuffs, and some fasteners are missing.
I'm attaching the photos below: the first 2 photos were attached by the buyer after sending them and show traces of editing, the next 7 photos are mine, the next 4 photos were taken after receiving the return. All the last photos show the difference between the product I sent and the one I received.

Update: eBay closed the case in my favor. I did not have to return anything to the buyer. eBay reimbursed the buyer. Here is what they wrote to me:
Here's the case outcome
The item has been delivered to you. eBay has refunded the buyer.
As a one-time courtesy to the buyer, we've covered this refund because the item was not returned in its original condition.

It happens and all you can do is refund the buyer and move on.

No way you can prove you shipped the item you show in your photos..

You can report the buyer, but probably won't do much good.

Yes it has happened to me. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do other than accept what you received and refund the money. I questioned it and Ebay told me to refund the money.

I opened a case and am waiting for ebay's decision. When it is decided, I will let you know how it ended.

More than likely what happened is the buyer missed the return window from another seller. So they pawned it off on you and kept your part.

I'm glad this worked out in your favor. I have had a buyer return a different item and because I was able to talk to a customer rep directly, and post the photos of the item I received, they let me keep the money and the item the person sent. I think it really helped that you had detailed photos of your item. Additionally, it often helps if you have better feedback and a long history of high seller standards. 

I tried the automated system for a dispute, and it never ends in the favor of the seller, so I only make disputes via the phone.
