On a day I shipped the item, buyer sends me picture of an used old release scent claiming she received it from me instead of the new 2022 scent (same brand). Looks like she wanted to swipe the old one for the new.
Can ebay close the return request if my item is still in transit?

I just had one..........return request, claimed broken, picture of different item.......while mine was still in transit........Concierge closed the case......... be sure they understand your item is in transit.........was not delivered when case was opened, therefore picture was not of your item..........
I did try to contact buyer.......but no response..........

sounds like we have some new scammers trying to use old scam methods!
I would respond in the open case so eBay has communication history recorded and can review. Be polite as possible and provide tracking if you have not uploaded already.
I would also consider blocking & reporting the buyer to eBay if things turn ugly.

We have access to them, after attending an Ebay live.....some years back....... I mentioned them as people downgrade regular customer service at time (for good reasons) and was trying to give the "key words"......apparently......that the case was opened with pictures before receipt. You will have to contact regular CS (or the facebook for business) to contest the case. I would do it BEFORE your item arrives, if possible.

What is disturbing that the scammer got her money refunded despite the agent confirmed that my item was shipped on the day she opened a return request, and it was not a picture of my item she sent to me to show "wrong" item "I sent":
"We reviewed the case and have decided to issue the buyer a refund of US $29.94 without any impact to you."

God Bless America. "I wish I knew who this buyer was so I can add them to my block list." They actually should be banned from buying on eBay.

What is even more disturbing that ebay rep refunded WRONG person who purchased the same item three weeks ago and never opened a case.
So, now, the scammer is still on her game, and some buyer who was happy about the purchase, got a refund.
