Monthly Chat - December 14th at 1:00 pm PST

Hi everyone! This month’s chat will be an open forum for you to ask questions to the Community Team. Get your questions ready so we can have an informative and fun filled chat on December 14th at 1PM PST!

-----

Edit: Thanks for joining us for the Monthly Chat with your Community Team.

The chat thread will remain open until 2 PM PT at which point we'll close it from additional responses. After that time, we'll continue to work on responding to any queries that might still be unanswered.

To post your question, click Reply in the lower right corner of this post, type your question, and hit submit between 1-2 PM Pacific Time. The format of our chat mirrors the format of our Community Discussion Boards, where each post will appear in the thread chronologically. The Community Team will review each question as it comes in, and will quote the original question in our reply. This quote and the reply will appear later in the thread, so just keep scrolling down to see our answers.

As a reminder, we want to be able to get to as many members as possible during the allotted hour, so we have a few things to ask of you:

  • Keep on topic
  • Scroll through the list of questions to see what has already been asked to decrease chances of redundancy
  • Keep the message/question simple and no more than one to two items. If you include multiple questions in a post, please be aware that they may not be addressed during the chat and we'll will do their best to follow-up with it after the chat has closed

Missed the chat? Send your questions to the podcast by calling 888-723-4630 or email us at podcast@ebay.com and maybe your questions will make it on the air! Or listen to past episodes while you wait for next month!

I really wish they would dust off this campaign and use it again.  The commercials for TV were very well done and they could really use the old ones again maybe with some minor tweaks.

Hey @clarkphilatelics. What issues are you running into? With buyers being able to send 5 counteroffers per 24 hours and sellers being able to send 3 every 48 hours, I definitely want to be able to pass along exactly what's happening.

When an offer expires there is no direct way to post an offer to the eBay ID that posted the original offer. If they and others are watching, all will see the offer which could be unfair if the original person who posted the offer loses out to someone else watching. If no one is watching, making an offer to the person with an expired offer appears to be impossible or incredibly awkward.

elizabeth@ebay forgot about this one... there is another issue with "offers" - not sending offer but with Coupons - many times I have tried to send followers/repeat buyers etc.. coupons and get the message "failed - try again" but it just won't let you send particular users coupon. Looking into it, ebay has a limit of how many coupons a user can be sent - this needs to be removed and made unlimited. The SELLER sets the amount of times a coupon can be used by buyer. And it should be up to the SELLER as to how many Coupons they can create and send to whom ever buyer they wish at any time they desire - it's OUR inventory - not Ebay's - Ebay shouldn't be limiting our use of them.

Re: Monthly Chat - December 14th at 1:00 pm PST

Hello again elizabeth@ebay and any other Team member(s) supporting today.

Subject: Combined shipping on the Seller Hub "Awaiting shipment - print shipping label" flow

While this is not a new request it seems like a good time to bring it up since as far as I can tell it was never addressed.  If eBay has added a Combine shipping selection on the Awaiting shipment - print shipping label flow then I missed it.  That is one request made previously.  The last I processed combined items I still had to use the old Print label function on one item the click then click the Print labels in bulk and once on the bulk label page REMOVE all items NOT being combined then check the remaining items and use the Combine function on that page.

If you followed all of that you can see where there is a need to use the Awaiting shipment-print shipping labels list so Sellers can simply CHECK those they want to combine and have a choice at the top of that page to Print labels so that they get put on the bulk label flow page with ONLY those items to be combined.

The Helps pages are no help in this process.  One section explains how to send an invoice and combine items that way BUT there does not seem to be any clear process for two ore more items that are already paid for in full OR a combination of an ended order awaiting payment or Seller accepted offer awaiting payment then additional immediate payment required items added by the Buyer (yep, just did that combo this past weekend).

The Help pages do explain issuing partial refunds but my thrust is to get the task of combining part of the Awaiting shipment-print shipping label flow page ... the word "Combine" is not there and the "Print labels in bulk" link on the label flow page would NOT grab anyone's attention for the task of Combining shipping labels into one ...

@mam98031 I agree but I was hoping for a Christmas miracle 😂 or that maybe eBay was running commercials somewhere that I just hadn't heard about.

The IT campaign I think was definitely one of the most popular and successful that eBay has ever run - if IT is still running through our heads all this time later, IT clearly did its job. 😉

Re: Monthly Chat - December 14th at 1:00 pm PST

When is ebay going to to something about duplicate listings, I've seen some with 12+ exact items and instead of reporting each one and wasting my time, I call in to report them. I get "oh that's completely against the rules" from the CS and they"ll "fix it and have the items removed" yet months now and nothing done.  Also another question, when I have duplicate items can I put #1, #2, #3 behind them ?

Since I lost 60% of my business when USPS added the $15 surcharge on packages over 30", I have had to fall back to fishing lures to sell, which is FLOODED with duplicates.

Is eBay working actively to fix category mapping between country sites? In 2021 attempts to sell railroad color slides in the EU went nowhere, perhaps because there is no well-defined active category corresponding to the active color slide category in the United States. Could eBay provide category mapping information to sellers interested in international sales?

Hi @clarkphilatelics. We'll get this request passed along to our Listing and Development Teams. Thank you!

elizabeth@ebay

For literally weeks now I have been asking the Community Team to ask the Marketing Team to provide us with information about any Holiday Marketing Plan for the entire site (not just the Verticals).

Can you explain why the Marketing Team has NEVER ONCE responded?

And, can you ask them why there has been NO Holiday Marketing for the site? What is the idea behind a "no marketing" strategy? maybe we'll finally get an answer.

eBay currently has a limit of $1.00 minimum when a seller issues a refund.  I believe eBay should remove this limit.  For instance, if I have a buyer who purchases 2 postcards listed at $1.00 + $.60 shipping and pays for each separately, I can mail them together with a total shipping cost of $.60.  I would like to refund $.60 to the buyer as a courtesy.  But eBay has this arbitrary limit requiring me to refund $1.00 or to make no refund.

Hey @somanypostcards we'll be glad to pass this suggestion along to appropriate team!

Re: Monthly Chat - December 14th at 1:00 pm PST

With the advent of lower minimum amounts to trigger IRS form 1099-K, is eBay doing anything to help sellers with an incorrect TIN number associated with their account? I t seems that when Managed Payments took over, it was no longer possible to correct account owner information.

If you every see a lamp, PLEASE let me know.

elizabeth@ebay   Would you please pass this on to the Advertising group.  Maybe next year they could dust it off, it was a fantastic selling campaign with great commercials and in turn sales on the site.

If the seller has a strong enough sell through rate on them, it may be within the rules.

I do not use coupons. Too complicated. I cannot imagine how it would expand the Managed Payments reporting nightmare.

Re: Monthly Chat - December 14th at 1:00 pm PST

Has there been any progress on the discounted social sharing incentive that was promised at eBay Open 2021?

It was being tested in Australia back in April but I haven't heard anything else about it since then. Is this still on the roadmap?

I only saw this on the threads occasionally and usually it was the seller not following the procedures to get the info corrected.  I would be very interested in seeing some of the threads you are talking about.  If you have any, would you mind sending me a DM so I could take a look.  Thank you in advance.
