Hi everyone! This month’s chat will be an open forum for you to ask questions to the Community Team. Get your questions ready so we can have an informative and fun filled chat on December 14th at 1PM PST!
-----
Edit: Thanks for joining us for the Monthly Chat with your Community Team.
The chat thread will remain open until 2 PM PT at which point we'll close it from additional responses. After that time, we'll continue to work on responding to any queries that might still be unanswered.
To post your question, click Reply in the lower right corner of this post, type your question, and hit submit between 1-2 PM Pacific Time. The format of our chat mirrors the format of our Community Discussion Boards, where each post will appear in the thread chronologically. The Community Team will review each question as it comes in, and will quote the original question in our reply. This quote and the reply will appear later in the thread, so just keep scrolling down to see our answers.
As a reminder, we want to be able to get to as many members as possible during the allotted hour, so we have a few things to ask of you:
Missed the chat? Send your questions to the podcast by calling 888-723-4630 or email us at podcast@ebay.com and maybe your questions will make it on the air! Or listen to past episodes while you wait for next month!”

I was sad to see that new VP Seller Experience Xiaodi Zhang didn't make an appearance at the Holiday Seller Check In last month. I know when Harry Temkin held that role, sellers always looked forward to his demos and deep dives on seller tools.
Will seller check ins still be quarterly in 2023 and is Xiaodi planning on reviving the Temkin tradition of giving us in depth demos of new tools and features as part of the agenda?
Hey @valueaddedresource we'll be glad to send over that feedback along with your suggestion for the seller check ins to the appropriate team!

Good afternoon elizabeth@ebay ! And any other Team members supporting today.
Subject: Completed Returns for Refunds dropping off the list
Would it be possible to have someone advise how long a completed return for refund takes to drop off the Seller Hub "All open returns/replacements" folder? I have one where the flow shows the Buyer received their refund on December 2nd but 7 days later it is still there. The transaction is complete.
-Does it remain until the original time frame the Buyer was given to return the item expires?
-Does it remain if it was not a full refund, meaning original shipping was withheld due to a remorse return?
Any clarity on this would be greatly appreciated ...
Hey @mr_lincoln. We'll reach out to our Returns Team for clarification and will follow up when we hear back!

Which is very smart. I always encourage seller to keep their own books. That is very important. The Ebay reports should be used as a cross check for the records separately kept by the seller. No seller should solely depend on Ebay for their sales records.

Looking into it, ebay has a limit of how many coupons a user can be sent - this needs to be removed and made unlimited. The SELLER sets the amount of times a coupon can be used by buyer. And it should be up to the SELLER as to how many Coupons they can create and send to whom ever buyer they wish at any time they desire - it's OUR inventory - not Ebay's - Ebay shouldn't be limiting our use of them.
I do not use coupons. Too complicated. I cannot imagine how it would expand the Managed Payments reporting nightmare.

i don't care, I don't use MP for my sales history, I use excel and record all my sales personally.
Does not work if sales exceed more than can be manually entered without impacting creating new listings.

So its ok for some but not others to break the rules, apparently ebay has no clue on supply and demand.

Why is it not possible to easily send offers to buyers with recently expired offers. What good is it to miss an offer received over a weekend when no one may be available to respond?
Hey @clarkphilatelics. What issues are you running into? With buyers being able to send 5 counteroffers per 24 hours and sellers being able to send 3 every 48 hours, I definitely want to be able to pass along exactly what's happening.
When an offer expires there is no direct way to post an offer to the eBay ID that posted the original offer. If they and others are watching, all will see the offer which could be unfair if the original person who posted the offer loses out to someone else watching. If no one is watching, making an offer to the person with an expired offer appears to be impossible or incredibly awkward.

Please remove the comma between state and ZIP code on eBay packing slips.
Example: California, 92284-1258 should be California 92284-1258
This is a minor issue, but I believe if eBay is more careful with minor issues possibly there would be fewer major issues on this site.
Hey @somanypostcards we'll be glad to pass this along to the appropriate team!

Great, thanks for sharing @clarkphilatelics. This is great info, and I'll get it passed over to the proper team.

With less than 2 weeks until Christmas, does eBay have plans to do any mass general holiday advertising for the entire site, not just specific verticals?
Competitor marketplaces are running some clever and heartwarming TV spots this season - it's sad not to see eBay up there with them.
Hey @valueaddedresource we'll be glad to pass this feedback over to our promotions team!

When is ebay going to to something about duplicate listings, I've seen some with 12+ exact items and instead of reporting each one and wasting my time, I call in to report them. I get "oh that's completely against the rules" from the CS and they"ll "fix it and have the items removed" yet months now and nothing done. Also another question, when I have duplicate items can I put #1, #2, #3 behind them ?
Since I lost 60% of my business when USPS added the $15 surcharge on packages over 30", I have had to fall back to fishing lures to sell, which is FLOODED with duplicates.
Hey @tsme35 we appreciate you bringing those duplicate listings to our attention and encourage you to continue reporting them so that action can be taken.

For literally weeks now I have been asking the Community Team to ask the Marketing Team to provide us with information about any Holiday Marketing Plan for the entire site (not just the Verticals).
Can you explain why the Marketing Team has NEVER ONCE responded?
And, can you ask them why there has been NO Holiday Marketing for the site? What is the idea behind a "no marketing" strategy? maybe we'll finally get an answer.
Hi @my-cottage-books-and-antiques. Passing along feedback unfortunately does not guarantee a response from that team. However, anytime we do receive a response we'll definitely keep you informed.

IMHO it is a bit late for that.
My all time favorite was the IT campaign. Do you remember that one. I loved it. I was always looking for a lamp for my desk in the shape of IT. LOL
@mam98031 I agree but I was hoping for a Christmas miracle 😂 or that maybe eBay was running commercials somewhere that I just hadn't heard about.
The IT campaign I think was definitely one of the most popular and successful that eBay has ever run - if IT is still running through our heads all this time later, IT clearly did its job. 😉
If you every see a lamp, PLEASE let me know.
elizabeth@ebay Would you please pass this on to the Advertising group. Maybe next year they could dust it off, it was a fantastic selling campaign with great commercials and in turn sales on the site.
Absolutely @mam98031. Love this idea and passing it along!

With the advent of lower minimum amounts to trigger IRS form 1099-K, is eBay doing anything to help sellers with an incorrect TIN number associated with their account? I t seems that when Managed Payments took over, it was no longer possible to correct account owner information.
Hey @clarkphilatelics. When sellers run into an incorrect TIN on their account, they should receive a red banner and the proper next steps on how to correct it. If they're not seeing that, or they need further help, our Payments Specialist's will be happy to help get it sorted.
