A great example of the confusion showing why EBay needs an announcement here. For whom are these free? How many? Applying to existing listings, or new? In all categories? With due respect, we shouldn't have to guess. None of this is in your current "fees" section.

When I Sell Similar, it seems like the only information passed along to my listing is the title (which I don't want), the category (which I do want), and the catalog information, if any.

Why doesn't the shipping weight and size come over from the previous listing?
If what I'm selling is actually different, I can change that. But if I'm selling the same item, it should be the same.

Also, often the Item Specifications don't seem to come over. They should definitely be the same.

If you're doing a Sell Similar off of someone else's listing, you'll get only the Title, category choice(s) and maybe some other standardized details, but that's it. You won't get their photos, descriptive text, or other content generated by that seller.

If you're doing a Sell Similar off of one of your own previous listings, you should be getting everything. The only exception I can think of to that is when attempting to relist a really old listing of yours (e.g. going back months, or even a year or two, accessing the listing via a link in an old eBay email, for example). In that case, you may be surprised to find that you can still retrieve your old listing, but the photos will probably be gone. Those tend to get dumped before the text, as the listing data ages off behind the scenes.

How will returned shipments for address problems be handled with the new managed payments system?

Technically a seller doesn't have to do anything because they fulfilled their end, but it's not right to keep both the returned item and the buyer's money. When a package is returned to seller because there's a problem with the address I offer to re-ship with the buyer paying for the label or I refund minus original shipping & fees.

It's been discussed that there is currently no way to partial refund through managed payments unless a SNAD claim is opened. That's problem number one.

Problem number two is that there isn't, to my knowledge, a way to invoice the buyer for additional shipping unless the buyer is willing to accept a paypal invoice outside of the managed payments system.

1. This is another reason we should have the ability to offer a partial refund without a SNAD being opened.

2. There should be an ability to invoice for additional funds in the event another shipping label is required.

Hi @vrykalak, I'd love to get this passed along to our developers for review if you can provide a specific example. While I know this experience is likely common across many items/categories, an example would be needed to discuss this with the appropriate teams.

I sold two items to the same buyer this past week. Each item had its own shipping amount (calculated shipping, no free shipping). I do not have a "business policy" for combined shipping. Because the items were fairly large and fragile, I would have preferred to ship as two packages.

However, ebay (or PayPal) combined the two items as one package, and so in eBay label Printing, I was only given the choice of printing one label. (I think the total shipping price was simply the total of the two separate calculated shipping amounts).

I ended up combining everything into one large package (I see it was delivered today, hopefully intact) I did this because I could see no way to print two separate shipping labels for two packages.

Is there a way to do that, and I just couldn't figure it out?

Also, how did these two items get combined in the first place? I can understand PayPal providing only one bill for the two items, more convenient than paying two bills, but that should not have combined them for shipping purposes, only payment purposes, right?

Thanks for the info, especially about maybe being able to find ancient listings!!

Let me now ask WHY are all these details suppressed when I Sell Similar from someone else's listing?
I certainly understand that I won't get their Description or their photos.
But why not the Item Specifics, and the shipping size and weight?
Those are not "proprietary" information.

Would you please ask the TPB to consider helping Sellers out by forwarding this information?

On the Store landing page, when a seller has a sale running (and I don't right now), there is the word "sale" which used to be a link to the items for sale.

Since the Stores "upgrade" in late May, the link hasn't worked............it leads to the full items for sale.

I know store stuff has been put off til next year, but this "disappoints" a buyer who is interested in seeing sale items.....any chance of getting it fixed?

Hi @dhbookds, while the feedback regarding a 'Sale' option on Store homepages has been passed to the correct teams, evaluating any possible updates or changes to Stores will not take place any earlier than next year.

Brian.....I'm NOT suggesting an option.   The link is there NOW.....it doesn't work properly....  I would think ebay would want to correct an outright glitch/mistake......surely someone can make it work or get rid of it.

Why is it when I receive a message from a buyer and decide to reply with an offer, there is no record of it in my messages?  When I make an offer to a seller, I can see the “You’ve made an offer” in my messages, why is there no record of my offers and counter offers to buyers?  It’s very difficult to try and remember what I originally offered if a buyer contacts me again days later!

Hi @blazebird, you should be able to review offer history directly from the listing. Can you give me an item number example so I can double check for you?

You can review it from the active listing page only if the listing is still active. There is no e-mail copy sent for our records and there should be. It's one of the main reasons I don't like to use the feature.

If and I stress IF, they are doing a sell similar from another seller's listing, why would all that stuff auto fill in?  Why wouldn't they be responsible for putting in their own information as it may be different?

Their packaging may be different so the shipping wouldn't be the same.  Why should they be able to copy the other seller's description as well?  Again ASSUMING they are doing a sell similar from another seller's listing.

@ would appreciate it if someone could get to the bottom of this.

It might not mean anything to most of you but I found it a bit off putting to be told that 8 years of my selling history has been "erased"

You guys did this with our community history when you redid the boards (again)  erasing the first five years of community when you slapped anniversary badges on us.

The selling history means something to me.  It should not be swept away as if nothing every happened.

Hi, what EXACTLY is the DEFINITION of a CONSUMER-SELLER? Very curious, is this a seller who also buys? I am confuced. Thanks

This has been my understanding of how it works.... a Consumer seller...are the ones who use the Quick Listing tool on a PC and do not have the option to OPT OUT of auto relists on their form.

If they have option to OPT OUT of auto relists then they are charged for relists on the APP.

A store user would not be what ebay is calling a consumer seller since they can opt out of auto relists OR GTC fixed price listings.

@Anonymous  The fee or no fee for auto relists is discussed on this help page but it REALLY needs some mention of how the rules apply when you use the APP.   Currently we have nothing to point at and say "here are the rules for when you use app"

"Good Til Cancelled renewals are free for members who are considered consumer-sellers and who use the app to list, or the simplified listing tool. "

Tyler, could you explain this in more detail?  What is a 'consumer-seller'? Am I one?

If I use the app to list 100 items GTC are you saying I will not be charged renewal fees for these 100? Will they not be deducted from my 1,000 insertions that come with my store?

thanks!

Sue

I was recently speaking with a customer service rep and he casually mentioned that I have been a seller on this website since 2006.  I corrected him and told him that I began selling in 1998 and have sold continuously since then.

He then said, No, my account shows that I registered my selling account in 2006 and although I might have been on the website from 1998-2006 with this ID, I did not have a registered selling account until 2006.

I didn't argue with him because I can clearly remember selling my first items for the holiday 1998.

What happened in 2006?  Is there something signficant that erased my history from 1998-2006.  Was there a new type of seller account in 2006 that made everything prior to that void?

I am really curious as to where that history went.

Thank you.

Hi @golfingaddict - I definitely see that your account was registered in 98. When it comes to selling registration that could have altered if there was a long period of inactivity sometime within that 98-06 timeframe. Did you take some time off during those years?

No tyler@ebay

I've put my store on vacation for a week or two  but I've been selling continuously since 1998.  I had a store when they were new  (and begged for a vacation setting back in 2002)

It's very odd that you guys lost those years.  They were pretty good years.

Thanks for letting me know! I'll see if I can find any other info about what may have occurred and let you know!

Hi @blazebird, you can access the manage offers page with the following link: https://ofr.ebay.com/offerapp/bo/showOffers/122833768331 For any future offers you have sent to buyers, just use the same link and replace the item number we have been discussing as an example with the item number for the new listing.
