@gwzcomps, we recommend sellers take the same steps to protect themselves under these circumstances as any other business; ensure accurate descriptions, clear photos, purchase insurance for loss or damage, and factor potential losses into their business model. Many businesses follow these steps in the face of the occasional difficult transaction and mange to remain successful.

I feel like there should be a separate weekly chat dedicated to MP since this is new uncharted territory.

They don't so up on the threads no matter how much tagging you do.  We have asked for the last couple months for there to be a Weekly chat with the team and I'm confident that Alan and the team [now Rebecca and the team] have passed this request along.  Yet here we are and still they don't come.  Armed with this information I would say that a separate chat dedicated to MP would bear any fruit.  We'd like just be chatting with each other.

I rarely buy anything on Ebay......I rarely buy anything period.....lol

But I did spring for a garden item on Sunday.... Today I get a message from ebay that the item has shipped......and then a message from the seller (apologizing) that due to virus shipping problems this item won't ship for 15-30 days...do I want to cancel?  A bit confusing.  I checked and it does show shipped, but no tracking # (lst class from Cal).  I did tell him to cancel.

Two questions

How did I get a message from Ebay that it shipped?  Only way I can think of is that seller bought a label and will void it at some point?

In normal times, since I canceled, would the seller get an out of stock?  I realize they are protected now because of the virus rules, but just curious.  I did tell him to cancel as need it quicker than 30 days....squash bugs don't understand the virus delay......and purchased from another seller who will hopefully have it.

Hi @vrykalak - great question! If you're referring to the shipping label screen, the Flat Rate box/envelope options are still there, but they're aggregated under the 'Carrier Packages'. If you click that option it will provide a drop down of the various products for you to choose from. (pic below). Thanks!

I think there may be a little more to this than that.  For example I was preparing to ship an item this morning and media mail option was no where to be found.  It wasn't due to my category or anything like that because I've sold off that listing before without issue.  But this time there just was no option for it.  So I had to go elsewhere to print my label.

I've had this happen before but I haven't reported it as I'm not going to hold up my shipment waiting for the proper way to handle it that could cause me a defect and more importantly a customer problem.

The problem is not my descriptions or photos!  Buyers don't look at them or read them because you give them no incentive to!  You guys are the problem.  You have created this toxic marketplace where the only one held responsible is the seller excluding extreme circumstances.  Your poorly thought out policies take away the incentive to put in the effort to be a good seller.  I am better off not taking the time to test my stuff, take dog doo blurry cellphone photos and send dirty disgusting products.  In the end my sales numbers are going to be the better, I can process more product, and I am still going to pay your extortion fee you threaten me with if I have too many bad buyers!  Why should I bother making your terrible company look good when all I get in return is spit in the face...

Hi, someone in QATAR bid on and won one my auctions. the item number is #114218524619. My question is HOW IS IT POSSIBLE for International buyers to be able to bid and buy my items when my listing ONLY has EBAY GLOBAL SHIPPING Enabled and NO OTHER SHIPPING SERVICE OR OPTIONS? This Country is listed under the EBAY Excluded Countries list. I had another International Buyer do the same thing 2 weeks ago and Purchase from a Country under the EBAY EXCLUDED LIST. I have GLOBAL SHIPPING ONLY enabled on ALL MY LISTINGS and The OTHER OPTIONS BOX Checked to "NONE". Now I have to cancel yet another order for "PROBLEM WITH BUYERS ADDRESS".

Hi @ekmadonna, when looking at your exclusion list I don't see that you have set any up. I know your listing is displaying some exclusions, and this may be a part of a known issue we are investigating right now where some locations are being shown as excluded when the seller did not set up any exclusions. I'll be sure to add you to the list of impacted users.

While you are enrolled in the Global Shipping Program, you have not excluded any locations, so have not fully set up that you only offer Global Shipping on all of your listings. You will need to go to your excluded locations and select all of the countries you would like to exclude from shipping to directly, then choose to override your exclusions for Global Shipping Program eligible items.

As for this specific example, your buyer has a domestic shipping address on file so even if you had set up exclusions or if the exclusions displayed on the listing had applied, this buyer would still have been eligible to bid because they have a shipping location that you offer service to. Cancelling for "Problem with buyer's address" is what I would have recommended in this situation. I hope these additional details and recommendations help you out, but want to clarify they would not have had any impact on this example since the buyer has a shipping address that you will ship to.

Hi @dhbookds - you'd think the squash bugs would be a bit more considerate considering recent events! 😉

When it comes to your questions:

1. If a seller marks the item as shipped, it would trigger the notification to you. This would be whether or not we can verify if the item has shipped since we do not require the use of eBay Labels.

2. This depends on the reason selected when the seller cancels the transaction.

I hope this new seller has them in stock for you and can get them to your garden quickly!

Is there any way to opt out of MP?

@audiophileman, all eBay sellers will progressively be required to participate in managed payments in the coming months. If you've received communication about preregistering for managed payments and have questions / concerns then you can go here and select "Have us call you" at the bottom of the page. A payments specialist will be happy to help you out

The referenced page says: Information on fees and how they are calculated will be made available at the beginning of the registration process.
That is abominable! We are all going to be forced into MP without knowing the fees.

I presume the "per item" fee is still there. That will cause MP to cost more for people who sell more than one item to the same buyer than the current method in Paypal, and it will drive many sellers off the platform.

Hi, 2nd question. What is going on when I am signed into one account and then hit the back button when reading a Ebay message for example and get diverted to my OTHER ACCOUNTS Message Page? This has been going on for over 2 weeks? It also happens when I am viewing my Saved Sellers or Watch list. Not always but occasionally. Why is this happening it is very annoying and worse it makes me feel very uncomfortable with the question of Exactly How SECURE IS THIS SITE?

@ekmadonna, that's strange. Based on the information here, it sounds like your internet browser is reverting back to another account you were previously logged into. Try clearing cache & cookies or using an incognito window. You could even use two browsers, one for each eBay account.

@gwzcomps, it sounds like you're taking all the steps you can. While difficulties with a transaction can be frustrating, this is a normal part of doing business. You're welcome to report any concerns you have with one of your buyers and we will review.

Re: Community Chat, May 20 @ 1:00 pm PT - General Topics

Actually forget it I think I will lower the quality of my listings. 1 photo and next to no description. The one poor quality unedited photo will save me 10 minutes of my time. The lack of a good description will save me another 5-10 minutes. I might quit testing and cleaning the stuff I would normally sell as working. That will save me 1 hour per desktop, laptop, etc. The hour or more I normally put into my one off items I can reduce to 10 minutes. I can list so much more stuff and can make up for the extra fees and bad user experience in volume.

Hi @mam98031 - Can you provide me an example to have a look at? I still see the Media Mail option in the Shipping Label screen under the 'Custom Size' section.

Let me give this one a try.  When you preregister it does NOT put you into MP right away.  You still will not be going into MP until July.  The preregister process is extremely simple and literally takes less than 60 seconds to do as long as you have a checking account ready to be attached to it.

The per item fee will be GONE as of July.  HURRAY!!!  They are moving to a fee that matches PP currently.  It will be one 30 cent transaction fee no matter how many listings the buyer purchases from.
