On some of the threads regarding this GTC mandate, some sellers are saying they never got an email from Ebay regarding the Early Spring Seller Update.  Doesn't this type of email go to all sellers or is there something in Site Preferences that can turn them off?  Or some other way within the seller's control to make sure they get these emails?

Also on my Seller Hub at the top it has a link to the Early Spring Seller Update, but through sharing this information on a thread, it became clear that it does not appear at the top of all Seller Hubs.  Please advise.

FYI
Post #60 Jen didn't get her seller update lucky she was subscribed to Announcements

Hi,

Buyers can not make repeat purchases in a 30 day period using the cart - only buy it now is available. This means they can not make multiple purchases without paying duplicate shipping - full shipping on each item.

I was wondering if, with the shift to all GTC listings, if this might be on the list to be changed, since this will now impact even more items?

thanks,

Sue

Hi @wooden_flower - I'm afraid I'm not sure what you mean when you say a buyer can't make a repeat purchase from you via the cart. Are you referring to buyer requirements?

Tyler,

No - if a buyer purchases an item, he can not put that same item in his cart again until more than 30 days have passed.  If he clicks on that item, he can see his past purchase, or he can buy it now, but the add to cart button does not appear.

This has been this way for quite a while. A year, at least?

Sue

Thanks so much for the clarification @wooden_flower - I'm as stumped as you are on this. I'm going to get this reported and see if we can get more detail on why this is they way it is. Thanks!

I just wanna say I spent over an hour relisting items today but thankfully my FP items now have GTC so I won’t have to do that again for a while if ever. I’m on the pro GTC team. I’ve used it a lot in the past and I love it!

Good to hear, thanks for sharing! heart_eyes

mg152, the Announcement calls it a test, so I take it to be a test. I'm not bothered by this. I usually respond quickly to offers, and if I miss a 12 hour offer, well, so be it. It's a competitive world, and it's my job to try to make sure I don't miss offers, but I realize it could happen. From the buyer view, I can see the value in this. Also, buyers will also need to keep in mind that choosing 12 hours may mean the seller never responds....so they take a certain risk too.

When will ebay update the Payment policy page?

https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/payment-policies/accepted-payments-policy?id=4269

Credit card or debit card processed through the seller's Internet merchant account

No mention of ebays managed payment or Apple pay and they really should update the information regarding sellers Internet merchant accounts as they are no longer allowed.

I feel this is an important page that many may refer to & if it requires a few updates along the way to stay in sync with what sellers are allowed to accept then they should adjust this page to reflect the correct information each time a change goes into affect

Hi @labs118, that's a great call out! I'll pass this over to the Help Hub team for review. Thanks!

On the shipping preferences page there is a glitch. https://www.ebay.com/ship/prf

Send buyers an e-mail with tracking- when "yes" is selected, this auto-enables FedEx carrier-specific discounts to buyers.

When FedEx is de-selected from offering carrier-specific discounts to buyers, that triggers the send buyers an e-mail with tracking to revert back to "no".

Thank you Brian. I think it will be a relief to many to hear that. It does make me feel a little more confident going forward with GTC, so the assurance is appreciated.

Hi Jen good to see you
You aren't alone many posts from other sellers who never got the seller update  as well
wonder what the issue could be.

Hello, Trinton,

I inquired about why some of the free shipping envelopes are now listed as "Limited Edition". The reply from Jason was that the sizes would still be available in a re-design. Please let me know if a new uniform design will be printed on those envelopes and all the other ones as well, and when that will occur. I was one of the sellers who made it known that the printed slogan was not a well thought out design.

When does ebay remove GTC listings due to staleness or whatever.

GTC: We know that GTC listings are treated like 30 Day FP listings for purposes of the "Ending Soonest" search order, that is, as they near the end of their 30 day cycle, they rise in Ending Soonest. Does eBay also treat GTC listings like 30 Day FP listings for watchers? To be clear: I believe with 30 Day FP, a watcher receives a reminder that the listing is about to end as the end date approaches. As a GTC listing nears the end of its 30 day cycle, does a watcher receive a similar notice? (I think there is some confusion about this, with some sellers believing that a GTC listing is a "permanent" listing with no end date. Wouldn't it be more accurate to describe it as a 30 Day FP listing that ends at the end of Day 30, and then renews automatically? (I do realize that time frame may change, depending on ebay's solution to the billing sync issue plays out, but that's a couple months in the future)

Hi @my-cottage-books-and-antiques - You're correct in your breakdown of GTC: from a buyer perspective it is presented as a 30 day listing. This means that if a buyer is watching the item they will get the notification that it is ending soon. My personal watchlist has a number of GTC listings that are on my 'someday' list and I get a notice of them ending every month. I really should just buy the first aid kit, with spring on the way. 🙂

Tyler

Get the first aid kit. I bought 1 a few years ago, misplaced it so I bought another one. I’ve used the second one I bought more in the last 2 months than I ever thought I would. I keep cutting myself, burning myself etc... must be old age. 😀😀

Hi @mg152 - okay, I'm sold. between that and the 'car escape tool' I think I've got my safety purchases lined up for the week!

Tyler,

No - if a buyer purchases an item, he can not put that same item in his cart again until more than 30 days have passed.  If he clicks on that item, he can see his past purchase, or he can buy it now, but the add to cart button does not appear.

A slight correction - what the buyer sees is "buy another" - not the usual buy it now button.  Here's the note from my last buyer than ran into it -

"Hello Sue! I would like to buy these before they're gone, I also want to add more 29ss rose patina however it is showing me the same thing - buy another which will end up in 2 shipping fees..."

Sue

This helps a lot Sue, thanks so much for this. I'll make sure to get this added to the report!
