Hi everyone! Thanks for joining us for the Weekly Chat with eBay Staff. This week we’re joined by the eBay Partner Network team to answer questions you may have about this program.
If you're new to our weekly chat, welcome! To post your question, click Reply in the lower right corner of the first post between 1-2 PM Pacific Time, type your question, and hit submit. The format of our chat mirrors the format of our Community Discussion Boards, where each post will appear in the thread chronologically - so if you don't see an answer right away, don't despair! We'll get to it. 😀
The Community Team will review each question as it comes in, and will quote the original question in our reply. This quote and the reply will appear later in the thread, so just keep refreshing and scrolling down to see our answers.
The chat thread will remain open until 2 PM PT at which point we'll close it from additional responses. After that time, we'll continue to work on responding to any queries that might still be unanswered. You will get a notification when we respond. See you Wednesday!

Is there a link we can copy and paste to our social media? I am confused how I am suppose to share this to get credit.

Now that ebay has added the free FVF incentive for sellers, I signed up (but really haven't done much with it yet). My impression is, there are really two different groups here: people who are basically affiliate marketers (who benefit from things like ebay Daily Deals and other special offers that they can market), and regular ebay sellers who are not primarily interested in affiliate marketing, and are primarily interested in the free FVFs. I'd like to see some tutorials (perhaps including actual ebay sellers who are using the program in primarily this way) aimed at those of us who are not really interested in flogging the hottest stuff, but want to push our own stuff (and maybe our friends' stuff). Any chance the team could put something like that together, with insights and strategies targeting those kind of sellers?

Hello,
QC Consigns is new to the Partner Network. We have signed up, but now that we are in it does not seem as simple as the introduction videos made it out to be. Is there a step by step tutorial to help newbies like us?

Hi!
Is there a link for joining the partner network?
Thanks!

How do we create links to our listings or to our store?

When listing an Auction at varying times there is a block that can be checked that allows Item to Automatically Relist up to 8 Times for no additional fees. Why is this function turned on and off at random? Once a person has agreed to this option why would eBay just turn off the function in midstream of completing the 8 Relists?

@saracitywide You will need to have an account with eBay Partner Network. When you sign into that account, you'll see several options for how to create a link. For example, you can use the "create a promotable link" option on the home dashboard, where you paste in the eBay URL and you get the EPN link to use.
Once you create the link, you share that link wherever you would be promoting eBay. When someone clicks on the link and makes a purchase, you will earn commission for the transaction.

The ebay seller in the video you shared mentions his use of email marketing. Are there any plans to update ebay's email marketing? Last time I looked at it, it seemed woefully out of date. I'd make a real effort to use it if ebay tried to modernize it a bit.
Also, what disclosure would I have to include in an email, to indicate I'm using an affiliate tool?
Also, what disclosure do you recommend for Facebook posts containing an EPN link? I've been using "#ad", but is there a better way?

On EPN do you create a sort-of campaign (a product, photos, text) with an affiliate link, then post that whole campaign with the link to a social media page?
Or is it literally just a solo link, that you can copy & paste on a social media post?
And how exactly do you create an affiliate link?

Please walk me through this one. Is it similar to the one eBay offered previously, that when create a new listing, eBay provide a link , then I share the link to Social media, if it is sold through the link, then I get credit?

I have used eBay's Partner Network on and off for the past 10 years to place an eBay promo widget in web pages. Then, a few years ago, the old widgets went dead and I was unable to create new widgets that would target "sellers" instead of "categories". It was also difficult to navigate the partner tools site. So after a 2-3 year hiatus, I'm taking another look.
The site has changed a bit. It looks like I still can not target a seller in a promo "gallery", but that I can use a "link" to do so.

However, the site coding has apparently left my Firefox 52.9 browser behind because the pages misbehave.
I can see my campaigns on my account page, but not on the link generation pages.
When I try to select a campaign from the drop list (apparently optimized for touch devices), the page goes blank.

We sell motorcycle engine repair gaskets and seals. Many of them are small and light so that even with combined shipping the package itself may weigh more than the parts in many cases. However, eBay calculates the box weight for each item and therefore overcharges the postage. Sometimes they do not even give the customer combined shipping at all -- they charge the entire postage several times. I expect we lose customers because of that. We refund the excess postage to customers who buy, but eBay has never been interested in giving us back the fees paid on the overcharged postage. Now with eBay controlling the payments from start to finish with the higher fee percentage (that includes almost the same as PayPal charged), we will lose even more money in fees on postage. Any chance eBay will ever stop cheating the seller and losing us customers because of this?
