Hi everyone! Thanks for joining us for the Weekly Chat with eBay Staff. This week we’re joined by the eBay Partner Network team to answer questions you may have about this program.
If you're new to our weekly chat, welcome! To post your question, click Reply in the lower right corner of the first post between 1-2 PM Pacific Time, type your question, and hit submit. The format of our chat mirrors the format of our Community Discussion Boards, where each post will appear in the thread chronologically - so if you don't see an answer right away, don't despair! We'll get to it. 😀
The Community Team will review each question as it comes in, and will quote the original question in our reply. This quote and the reply will appear later in the thread, so just keep refreshing and scrolling down to see our answers.
The chat thread will remain open until 2 PM PT at which point we'll close it from additional responses. After that time, we'll continue to work on responding to any queries that might still be unanswered. You will get a notification when we respond. See you Wednesday!

There is a seller that has been shipping orders in multiple shipments using several tracking numbers. They create tracking numbers shortly after your purchase, so you think you will be getting a fast shipment. Then there is no acceptance scan after days and sometimes weeks from the deadline of the "guarantee" delivery date. When I was able to I opened a case because I haven't received my entire order yet. As soon as I did they manipulated tracking numbers to show that they were all delivered and showed up on time based off of my first package. The tracking number it had was erased, so they could prove to ebay that they fufilled the whole order. Eventually I got the last package before I had to ask ebay to step in to help with the case I opened. I was honest even though the tracking number it arrived with was never provided, so I shut the case. I left negative feedback based on my experience and the real truth and it was taken down. I have been watching this seller's feedback and they are getting about 20-50 negs. per day for the same things I went through and they are some how getting pretty much all of them removed. They are classified as a "top rated seller" and they don't answer emails or they are rude, people aren't getting their whole orders nor are they getting refuned, this seller is giving out fake tracking numbers or falsifying them, it is insane to watch what people say before it gets erased!!!! I have reported them several times and I feel like I am being ignored. HOW/WHY IS EBAY ALLOWING THIS SELLER CONTINUE TO SELL???? Other sellers get taken down for a lot less.
Hi @cmomgo_boutique - that's definitely sounds unusual. We don't discuss warnings or other punitive action taken on a different member's account (and it's also not something we'd discuss publicly).
We'll review the action taken and report it as appropriate. Thanks!

You have two different variations of a Starter Store
One link states Free Fixed Price Insertions 250/Month and 250/Month Free Auctions in Collectibles and Fashion
I take this to mean you can only use the Free Auctions in Collectibles and Fashions and nothing more?
The other link states Starter 250/$.30 for Auction-style listings and Fixed price listings.
Why the two different policies?
Additionally, if a person opens a Starter Store is the 250 listings in addition to the 200 Free Listings that you get without a store, making you monthly free listings 450?
Hi @stephenmorgan - the help page (link here) and the subscription page (link here) are trying to indicate the same thing, but I can see how it is confusing
A Starter store now gives you 250 listings to use as you see fit (between Fixed Price or Auction style listings). After that 250 you would pay 30 cents a listing to place them up for sale.
The subscription page indicates that the 250 can be used across Fixed Price or Auction if you click the info circle next to it. I'll get feedback submitted that this is a confusing layout.
A page that may be clearer for you is this one. Thanks!

No answer?
Hi @cmomgo_boutique - The weekly chat is a great place to ask these types of questions. Most weeks are 'General Topic' weeks where you can bring anything. This week was a topic-specific chat based on the eBay Partner Network, which is why your question didn't get addressed right away (we prioritized answering on-topic questions). Thanks for your patience!

We sell motorcycle engine repair gaskets and seals. Many of them are small and light so that even with combined shipping the package itself may weigh more than the parts in many cases. However, eBay calculates the box weight for each item and therefore overcharges the postage. Sometimes they do not even give the customer combined shipping at all -- they charge the entire postage several times. I expect we lose customers because of that. We refund the excess postage to customers who buy, but eBay has never been interested in giving us back the fees paid on the overcharged postage. Now with eBay controlling the payments from start to finish with the higher fee percentage (that includes almost the same as PayPal charged), we will lose even more money in fees on postage. Any chance eBay will ever stop cheating the seller and losing us customers because of this?
@distrovic calculated shipping only takes into account the weights you've entered in the listing. It'll combine your stated weights up to the maximum allowed for that shipping service (for example, USPS First Class Package). Once the weight maximum is reached then it will add up the weight for the next item/s and charge those separately until the weight limit is reached again.
Offering more shipping services that allow for higher weight maximums is one route to take in situations like this as combining more items into a single box can be accomplished. You'll also want to review your listings to ensure the weights are correct so they are calculated properly. Customer Service can help you get this set up so it calculates the way you'd expect.

Really need more detailed info. Can someone else post a link to my items and benefit; If yes, how??
@lifestyleproductsrus Technically, yes, a partner could post a link to your items, and they'd earn commission if the items were purchased. An EPN partner can post a link to any page on eBay, and if they're successful at getting someone to make a purchase, they'll earn commission.
The idea behind the eBay Partner Network is that we have partners who help promote eBay outside of the eBay properties, and that these partners can reach shoppers in a way that eBay's other advertising methods don't. Our best partners are really good at getting people to come to eBay and buy things.
We have an overview of how affiliate marketing works here: https://partnernetwork.ebay.com/our-program/what-is-affiliate-marketing
The nice thing about this program for sellers is that you can benefit by getting people to come to eBay to buy your own listings. But you can also benefit by getting them to come to eBay and buy basically anything else, too.
Thanks!
