Hi everyone! Thanks for joining us for the Weekly Chat with eBay Staff. We don't have a specific topic this week, so feel free to share any general buying or selling questions you may have!

The chat thread will remain open until 2 PM PT at which point we'll close it from additional responses. After that time, we'll continue to work on responding to any queries that might still be unanswered.

To post your question, click Reply in the lower right corner of this post, type your question, and hit submit between 1-2 PM Pacific Time. The format of our chat mirrors the format of our Community Discussion Boards, where each post will appear in the thread chronologically. The Community Team will review each question as it comes in, and will quote the original question in our reply. This quote and the reply will appear later in the thread, so just keep scrolling down to see our answers.

Missed the chat? Send your questions to the podcast by calling  888 723-4630 or email us at podcast@ebay.com and maybe your questions will make it on the air! Or listen to past episodes while you wait for next Wednesday!

Re: Community Chat, August 12 @ 1:00 pm PT - General Topics

I saw a post today about a purchaser not getting tracking on a return item  enteref by USPS on time and lost a case. They lost both item and money.

So if they appeal the case and it shows delivered will eBay reverse the case??

Same question for sellers that items are getting stuck of late tracking ??

Edit: Reply to this post can be viewed here

I have a couple observations about the screen to create shipping labels.  Both issues I brought up before, then one went away for quite a while, but it is back with a newly revised screen for me as of a couple weeks ago or more.

The issue with the package size being in a different order than the listing forms have is the ongoing issue that has never changed.

On the listing forms it appears as follows.  Notice the last field is for thickness.

On the shipping label screen it appears as follows.

11.JPG

Here the package sizes start with the thickness of the package, so it is in reverse.  Now on this one it is easy to see that but if the label is pulling from a listing that does not have any package size in it, the fields are blank and the seller can't know what order they are in for two reasons.  They aren't labeled and for some reason in a different order than on the listing forms.  Not sure what good reason one could have for this.

The other issue that has popped up again as it had gone away until this screen received an update, is the "BUYER SELECTED" shipping method.  I have not a clue where it is pulling this information from, not only because I don't offer any such option on the listing but because it seem just to select the highest cost shipping.  So it can't be the "Buyer" selecting this method because that option does not exist anywhere in the purchase flow and everything to do with Ebay choosing for the buyer and seller what method to use for whatever reason Ebay has.

So why the unnecessary differences and the incorrect label of "Buyer Selected" when the buyer did not select it???????????

@mam98031   You can ADD that the package type defaults to "Letter" in Bulk Editor if you go to change something in the edit field where package type resides ... it has happened to me.  If you do not access that particular field for anything during the Bulk Editor session then your listings will stay with the settings you created at the time of listing.

Yes, I'm aware, thank you, but that isn't the point.  It is not in the same order.  There is no reason for it to be in a different order than it is on the listing.  And if you don't have this information filled in on your listing, it shows up with blanks on the label screen, which it should.  Likely most would rightfully assume it is in the same order as it is on the listing forms so they would start of with it being 12" thick when it is actually 1" thick.  Details, yes, but it could be important.  Even if it isn't important, why in the world would you have it in a different order on the shipping screen?

I've been searching around the help pages and can no longer find a reference to the shipping supply quarterly coupon benefit for stores.   Have there been any changes to those with the recent store updates?

tks

Hi @fern*wood - well that's got me stumped too. There have been no announced changes to the quarterly shipping supply coupon. I was able to find some oblique references to the coupon itself in the Seller Center (link here), but nothing on Help Pages that I can find.  I'll see what I can find out and update you as I hear back!

Hi. Managed Payments just began for me, frustrating that I have to wait 3-4 days for eBay to even process my money. Anyway, now that fees are being taken out automatically, will there be a monthly report we can generate for our total fees?  I see they are listed individually, but would prefer not adding up hundreds of transactions.

@2013fitzp I have to give a disclaimer. As someone who is not an expert on managed payments I may not be able to address your question in its entirety. If you have been notified to register for managed payments you are able to request a call back from a payments-trained teammate by accessing any of the Help Pages related to payments and using the 'Have us call you' feature at the bottom of the page.

The information provided is accurate as of today's date (08 12 2020) but may become outdated in the future. If you are reading this at a later date please consider checking the Help Pages or request a call back from a managed payments teammate who can provide the most up to date information.

Fees that are taken automatically will be included on the monthly invoice as already paid.

While that is a place you can look to see what the fees are, you don't get any totals there unless you drop that invoice detail into a worksheet program to total the fees so you could have it for bookkeeping purposes.

It is easier to get on the detailed report in MP.  Under the Payment Tab, then Reports.  It is the detailed transaction report.  You can download it whenever you want to review your details up to 90 days back.

Thanks @mam98031  and @partsaholic for the confirmation.  While I'm glad the date has been pushed back, it is concerning that a change like that would not be communicated clearly and directly through official channels.

I still have not been able to learn whether or not I can legally mail a Lava Lamp to an APO/FPO address. I can't find anything about this on eBay or USPS. Now the buyer has opened an INR case. Is there any community group that might advise me on this?

If you are TRS, and you set the type to "letter" in your listings, you will get a ding every time for not uploading tracking.

That is NOT the issue.

Whoops I attached the wrong pic for the package size from the listing.  I should have used it from the same listing so you could more easily see the order difference.  Sorry about that.

Hi @mam98031 - this is definitely something we reported back in March (and I was under the impression that it had been sorted). I'll touch base with the shipping team to let them know that it is still an issue. My belief is that the shipping label page is set up to default the largest dimension to be the length regardless of the order in which it is input, but I'll double check.  Thanks!

After weeks of complaining I have finally gotten hit with the thing I was worried about.  As far as I can tell one INR due to eBay’s guaranteed delivery dates put me below standard.  Now all my listings are showing 30-day handling times.  I find it quite ridiculous that my peer group has 0% INRs even if it was pre pandemic.  I have no recourse at this point and this is pretty much going to kill my sales for this month.  I did everything I could to protect myself yet here I am.

One INR can't cause that.  One can put you over the top, but it can't cause this by itself.

One INR can if the peer group is at 0%.  It is the only thing I can figure is the problem at least.  Next month I will be cutting it close.

You are saying that no one else sells the stuff you do on Ebay therefore you don't have a peer group???  That doesn't sound right to me as I know you don't make OOAK products.

That and there is a minimum requirement too in the Service Metrics to protect small sellers which you have to have 10+ dings before the Service Metric's comparison even kicks in.  So ONE can't do it.
