Ebay was somewhat cryptic on the fact that they were giving protections during the current pandemic spreading like wildfire around the nation.

Ebay has stated they will not down grade sellers status during this time, but are they counting late shipments against us? The only way I can have packages scanned is at the counter and it feels unsafe to wait on line.

My regular mail carrier has not been working and the floaters do not always scan packages when pickup is requested. Similarly when packages are dropped in the collection bin they don't always get scanned on time, even though transit times aren't typically effected in either case.

Is the only way to ensure on time delivery to take my chances and wait on line as usual or are we going to be protected from late shipments during this time where I can drop packages after hours in the collection bin?

Hi @coinslabz26 - happy to clarify! On-time Shipping as a metric has not been suspended. This means you can still get credit by either getting an acceptance scan within your handling time, having the item scan as delivered within the estimated delivery date given to your buyer or having the buyer state they received the item on time when leaving feedback.

With that being said - if your Late Shipment Rate does increase, it will not impact your seller level, per our announcement from a few weeks ago (link here).

But wasn't that stated to be for a period of time.  The announcement said we are protected until the June 20th eval.  But what happens after that.  For sellers that are on the 12 month eval period.  Do the all come back into consideration on the July 20th eval.  By putting that timeframe in the announcement that is what it appears to be say.  Or at least that is my interpretation.

What is the best way to find out the best or average success rate of specific types of items to sell on eBay without having  to do a specific item search?  I can certainly do a google search but I would like to think that eBay knows its market better than some outside marketing source.

eBay catches up with them sooner rather than later and they end up with the defect... faster when the sellers complain about it.

Thanks for the response, I find it difficult to believe that eBay is efficient in only that one area of AI.

LOL the defects they got nailed down flat...  I tried it once just to see how fast it took... less than a month later the defect showed up. (back when I had wiggle room in my defects, worked it out with a friend of mine over the phone, they bought I canceled "buyer addy", friend complained, defect showed up... haven't done it since and had to wait a year for the defect to fall off.)

I hate photobucket right now... PS Answers given years ago may or may not be current now, please check with current posters to the boards to see if the information is still relevant.

WHO can rectify this???

I’ve ask three times for someone in management to call me.

I do not understand no phone service,... Covid does not, as far as we know, go through the phone lines.

Are there personal liability issues, other than obvious gross negligence, for selling pre-owned items such as wigs or Gel LED Manicure systems?  Wondering if I should just stay away from those kinds of personal use products,

It appears to me that Ebay has changed the process on refunding buyers when sales tax is part of the transaction.  I’m not sure when it changed.

It was that if I refunded a buyer in full, the sales tax was auto added to the refund that the buyer receives and Ebay of course took care of that sales tax portion.  It was also true that if I did a partial refund that the appropriate portion of the sales tax was auto added to the refund and Ebay again covered that portion.

But now it seems to have changed for partial refunds.  If we want to partially refund our buyer how are we going to get this to work right.  For example in the pic below.  I want to refund my buyer $45 out of the money they paid me for the product.  But if I put that in, as you can see, their total refund is $45 with the sales tax being part of the $45. It should be a refund of $45 PLUS sales tax.  In other words the buyer should be seeing a refund of $48.42 [45.00 + 3.42].

Hi @mam98031, it looks like you are doing a partial refund through PayPal (correct me if I'm wrong). This is the correct way partial refunds work through PayPay, which is that the seller will need to calculate the tax and include the appropriate amount of tax in the 'Total Refund Amount' field.

Why and is it possible to change or defend yourself as a seller against a buyers return request claim when buyer clearly states in the written part of the return request that the item was "not damaged" as was stated in the initial reason for the return, but it just isn't what they were expecting? This would seem to breed abuse of a seller.  What is the best way to protect yourself as a seller from these things happening?

Hi @nomatchingshoes - if you run into situations where you feel a buyer is misusing the return system I encourage you to report them through the return itself. That will alert us to review their behavior for patterns of abuse and take action if necessary. In most cases, however, we would still expect you to handle the return request as normal if we were asked to step in.

The best way to protect yourself is to consider offering Free 30 day returns, which will allow you to issue a less than full refund as well as receive a return shipping credit of up to $6 per return. You can also access these protections if you are a Top Rated member and offer 30 day returns.

The past two days I have been reporting the sellers of N95 masks. Today alone I have probably spent 3 hours doing it. I also view where the seller is from and am astonished that 99% are from China. The sad thing is the listings get taken down and 2-3 hours the exact listing is back up ONLY UNDER a different user name. Most of these items are shown as shipping from a California location (warehouse) and WHY AREN'T THESE SELLERS BEING BANNED? If it was a U.S. seller they would have had there accounts closed by now.

These sellers are also being reported for price gouging. I believe other sellers are reporting these sellers also. This is very unfair to all sellers that these sellers are not being banned.

Is there some reason as to why eBay is not closing there accounts?

Hi @greg213213, from what you have described sounds like we are banning the accounts related to your reports, since you are seeing the same or similar items show up with a different username. This is a strong indicator that the original account was banned from our site. While we are often times able to identify connected accounts and will take action accordingly, those who seek to violate our policies will also employ methods to circumvent our detection.

I think you might find a recent article published on eBayinc.com to be interesting, as it goes into detail on the steps we have taken to address this issue. You can find that article here: https://www.ebayinc.com/stories/news/we-are-actively-removing-price-gouging-prohibited-items-from-eb...

eBay sent out an announcement today that this change begins April 15th. Can you let us know if the info will be available retroactively on the 90 day lookback report starting April 15th or will the info start appearing on orders dated April 15th and later? That part wasn't clear.

Effective April 15, 2020, Orders in Seller Hub will break out fees into line items to include Mattress Recycling and Electronics Waste Recycling fees, where applicable. The Orders Download report available in Seller Hub will also be updated with three additional columns:

- Electronic Waste Recycling Fee
- Mattress Recycling Fee
- Additional Fee*

You can find these new columns between the “eBay Collected Tax” and “Total Price” columns..

Lastly, the column title that was previously, “eBay Collected Tax Included in Total” will be updated to “eBay Collected Tax and Fees Included in Total” and accounts for the fee breakouts in the new columns.

Please ensure any programmatic feeds you may have built into order management software applications are updated to reflect these changes to ensure a seamless transition.

*More information about specific state taxes and fees can be found here:

Sincerely,
eBay

How long do drafts last, and does revising them restart the clock?

Hi @carlqsportscards - a draft listing remains for as many as 30 days from the last time you edited it, after which it expires.

However, the more aged a draft becomes the less likely it will be to work properly when you go to finish it. For that reason it's suggested that you use the drafts feature as a temporary tool - not a long term storage solution.

Can I choose the time frame upfront for a "Buy It Know" listing or "Auction" without ending the listing or is it a predetermined time frame?

Buy It NOW listings renew every month on the original listing date (except the 31st will renew on the 30th in months with 30 days) until you manually cancel them.  The are called "Good Till Cancelled" or GTC listings.

Auctions can also have an option to offer a Buy it Now price.  That is good until the first bid is placed.

Good afternoon eBay support team!  I hope this finds you well!

Subject: eBay needs to delay July Managed Payments indoctrination

If I had a direct feed to eBay’s upper management this message would be directed to them.  But since I don’t you are the next best thing (please don’t feel slighted by that, it’s not intended to be one) and my hope is this is passed on to them.

It makes sense for eBay to postpone the July indoctrination of more accounts getting placed in Managed Payments.  Currently eBay has no phone support to my knowledge as reported on numerous threads here on The Community and there is no guarantee with the Covid-19 pandemic that it will be restored by July or if some is restores it may not be adequate enough to support the needs of regular calls as well as those new to MP.

With California’s Covid-19 quarantine rules I suspect that eBay’s main offices is pretty much a ghost town and I doubt there is anybody or very few people working on the program.  Managed Payments is not a completely debugged system as reported on numerous threads here on The Community so it makes sense to postpone the next buildup of accounts until such time that all departments are back in 100% capacity and on location at their normal business offices.

Additionally, is there one place to go and see the status of ALL issues with the program and what it’s progress and the features and benefits currently implemented and the wish list for the future?

Mr. L

There is a good chance that because of contractual agreement with Adyen and timeline stipulations that it is not possible to delay accepting new sellers into Managed Payments.

Seller Performance Questions:  Does it hurt my seller performance/ratings to revise listing under Buy It know listings for things like,: changing max/min offers or lowering the actual BIK (Buy It Know) price, or shipping costs or options?

Hi @nomatchingshoes, making revisions to a listing, whether it's Auction or Fixed Price, will not impact your Seller Performance. This help page explains the criteria that is reviewed when determining Seller Performance. If you are referring to a listings Best Match search results then I suggest reviewing this page for more details.

You are right. But the other end of the phone is connected to an office building, with a call center (room with hundreds of desks and phones) and that is where covid is transmitted. Using the internet, the same workers are able to answer questions and work at home using their personal computer. I assume that is what they are doing.
