Ebay does seem to be going off the deep end. Along with the backwards Sponsored on E V E R Y listing, there will be 50 identical listings of an item, right down to misspelled words, with different low sell count seller names.
I suspect the backward text is an indication that eBay is trying to make it harder for users to filter out sponsored listings -- by finding more and more obscure ways to include the "sponsored" text in the sponsored listings other than just as simple plain text that can be easily found and filtered.
Likely one of those obscure ways to include the text letter by letter was accidentally inverted, resulting in the backwards text.
Including "sponsored" in white text in non-sponsored listings also makes it harder for a simple script to identify which listings are sponsored and which are not.

Those just sound like scam listings rather than something eBay is doing.
