So im trying to list an item and it takes to a Verify your phone number page.
I have already done this.
It will no longer take my phone number and says "Something went wrong. Check everything is right below."

September 2021. I am in the UK, has anyone found a solution yet? I still can get past this security step. "
Something went wrong. Check everything is right below.
Verify your phone number
To confirm your number, we'll send a security code to:
Where we'll send your code
xxxxxx4567
How would you like to receive .... etc

im stuck on this too, changing my country code doesnt help

I am stuck in the same place. I live in the UK and even if I change the country code and then back to the UK I still get the same error message. It is very frustrating, as one cannot post a listing until we can move on from this step! When I emailed ebay in August they said they were working on a fix. But how come it is still the same issue months down the line?

I have literally the exact same issue. My account is from 2001. Maybe only affecting old accounts? 2 months now and still nothing. Yours still not working? Maybe we have to make new accounts?

Same with me. What have you done? Just not used eBay or create another account?

UK sellers try this...from the 'Verify' page:
Click "Edit phone number"
Leave Country set as "+44 United Kingdom"
Edit phone number - add "44" at the start, and delete the first "0" (so mobile number will start 447... and landlines will start 441...)
Then try 'Verify' again. Just worked for me 🙂
Good luck!!

The Canada trick wouldn't work for me. Tried a few times. This is utterly asinine. Guess ebay doesnt want my money.

Oh hahahahaha, ebay really know how to stuff things up. I feel so much better for reading this thread, it really isn't me, it's THEM! ! Am looking for other places to sell things, have spent best part of 2 hours on this nonsense this morning and the poor tech couldn't help. Said would escalate it and it would take 4-5 days. WHO HAS 4-5 DAYS!!!

Hang on, I think this might be working - text has not arrived yet but no ominous red message. If this works will be over the moon. Thanks for the suggestion anyway!

I have been absolutely around the houses with this today, have spent hours on it. Spoke to several people at ebay, all very nice indeed but none could resolve it so they have submitted a ticket and said to check back in 48 hours. In the meantime, I have set myself up a new account USING A DIFFERENT EMAIL, am just verifying things and putting in bank account details and will sell using that one for the time being. Good luck all and thanks to everyone who has posted suggestions!

for US users make sure you are using 1 before your area code!
05-09-2022 09:07 AM
You're way late to the discussion and solution. Using 1 for US is what everyone was doing and it did absolutely nothing. The solution was to chose CANADA and use +1 to get beyond the problem. Ebay has done absolutely 0 to resolve this the proper way.

I just tried this and it WORKED. The Canada thing didn't work for me, but this did! basically put 1 in front of your phone number (a separate 1 than your country code that's added automatically; so if your number is something like 555-555-5555, type it as 1555-555-5555 and it worked for me) Tysm!

I went into account settings/personal information. My phone number had never been verified. I verified it there, and then had to verify it again when attempting to list item. I was able to list item.
