"Request total" not working, error code 80016

Is anyone else experiencing this?

I've tried for several days to purchase some (7!) items from same seller and requesting a total. But Ebay won't let me. It keeps giving the error message: "Seller does not offer combined shipping" (error code 80016). But I have been in contact with seller and they DO offer combined shipping. They said it had to be an Ebay issue.

A long chat with Ebay on Wednesday 12th of May let me know that it "seemed" to be a new problem emerging, some techinical issue that they are working on solving. They said 1-2 days and it should be solved. 

So, I kept trying to request a total these past days. Didn't work.  

Today, evening of Saturday 15th of May, I contacted Ebay again via chat. I really want to buy my items before they sell out! Ebay didn't seem to be very focused on the technical issue, but after some checking they did say that they hadn't solved it yet and that I should find similar sellers to buy from. Uh...?  That doesn't solve my problem. And it doesn't change the fact that it is apparently impossible for me to request a total and combine shipping at the moment. Strange. 

So, basically I'm just wondering how many of you are experiencing this problem these days?
I'm just surprised that I can't find anything about this tecnical issue anywhere other than in old and out-dated articles. I can't be the only one though? And the shop I talked to also said other customers seemed to be having the same problem as me.... 😕

I see you are registered in Denmark.

If your seller uses GSP for international orders, combining shipping is not possible, I believe.

The seller may not have set up the listings to allow combined shipping, or some items may require different shipping services.

You might try contacting your seller to see if there is a way your order could be accommodated, either by allowing your to buy each item separately and offering a separate shipping discount, or the seller creating a new listing with all the items combined.

In general, the more items you are attempting to combine into one order, the more likely a problem with one item can prevent the order from going through.

February 2022 same problem having a little dive patch mailed to Canada from the USA.

I've doubled check everything in my account and was successful with several other small purchase but not this one and the seller has never had any issue like this. What is up Ebay ?

Same problem in Europe. I really dont know what happens to ebay...

Same problem in the UK while buying from a UK seller in 2023. Obviously EBay don't care about fixing this "known" issue and it has nothing at all to do with international purchases.

All you can do is hope that if the seller offers to refund you the additional postage costs, that they do actually remember to do so after you make your purchases.

Still experiencing this, US seller to US buyer. It is a pain, but I find most sellers are willing to refund the difference if asked.

My buyers are having the same problem when they click on Commit to buy and submit request. "The seller does not offer combined postage discounts" pops up and the request is not received so that I can reduce the postage for combined items. I have contacted eBay support through their chat messaging and have had eBay phone me back. eBay support do not appear to know that they is a problem and keep telling me that it is the buyers' error as they are doing something wrong. I have checked my account settings to ensure that the "Offer combined payment and postage" is ticked (which it is). The eBay Request total procedure has recently been changed, even though it had 'bugs' previously. There is also a problem as eBay help screens mention that the buyers should contact sellers and ask for combined postage for multi item purchases (Request Total), however eBay does not provide a help link or description on how to request combined total.

Their multiple purchases of the same item discounts are not working either... savings does not appear in the cart or on the checkout system.

These glitches are probably connected.

I have the same issue in Europe on eBay.de. Could not send a final invoice (Gesamtbetrag) request several times. Finally I sent a personal message to the seller and I hope that we will be able to resolve the issue in this way.

Something is seriously going wrong in eBay IT support, since this function has been working properly for many many years without a glitch.

I am glad to report that the personal message to the seller worked and he sent me the final invoice.

So in case that the eBay refuses to provide for the final invoice request, simply send the personal message to the seller and ask for the invoice. Worked for me, but still -- eBay should handle this issue properly.
