"Description" text is lost / vanishes / reverts

I'm using Chrome on a Windows 10 x64 PC.

1)  I enter at title for eg. a CD.

2) I enter Details via pick-boxes.

3) I drag & drop several pictures.

4) I type in a Description.

5) I enter sale type (I use Buy It Now).

6) I choose shipping method (Media Mail for a CD).

7) I enable Local Pickup  AT WHICH POINT MY DESCRIPTION TEXT ABOVE DISAPPEARS

Not all the text always disappears.  Often it reverts to some intermediate point where I had paused to cut & paste info.  The loss is often triggered by eBay processing info on the Shipping Method (spinning disc time).

It also happens when everything looks fine and I "List the Item"... only to find in review that the Description was trashed.

This happens over and over.  I usually have to go into "Revise Listing" to fix it.

Can't help with a fix.........but years ago, some thing similar was happening and the work around was to change the order in which you entered the the info....do#7 first, or do the description last, etc.  I'd just try some "throw away" listings.......do a couple of words in title, description, etc. until (if) you find the order....

If the problem is that the item description is disappearing when you list, the problem may be tied to a browser add-on. Other users have pointed to issues with Ad Block, Duckduckgo and a grammar checker called Language Tool. If you have any of these add-ons installed in your browser while listing or editing, a conflict with the new listing tool may cause the item description to be lost. It is possible that there are issues with other as-yet unidentified add-ons as well.

Try temporarily disabling those add-ons while listing or editing. Or else try using another browser that does not have those add-ons installed to list or edit your items.

Thanks, but even in an "Incognito" or "Private" browser session with no extensions the same thing still happens.  Ebay lister deletes my "Description" text almost every time I do anything else.  Even doing the Description last usually doesn't work because my next step of "Listing" the item causes the Description to be lost while it's listing!

This happens on two different Windows PCs here, under different browsers.  How can we both have this issue and so many millions other folks don't?  Amazing.

Try a completely new browser with no extensions installed.

Did that.   Opened an instance of Windows Sandbox and ran the built-in MS Edge browser.  So:  totally new / virgin / vanilla / untouched / no extensions.  The same problem happens:   my Description is often truncated whenever I do something in another spot eg. edit the title, or change price, or shipping, or even just "List" the item!

Sometimes, instead of or in addition to deleting most of my Description, eBay removes spaces between words.

The good news is that every time I go back in to Revise my listing to fix the problem, eBay again offers to promote the item and I get to dismiss that window...  so I can usually do that about six times for each listing.

I just finished listing several items and had the same/similar issue. By the time I was wrapping up the batch, I was making sure to preview and checking everything, but lo and behold, after scheduling, I went to check and half of the listings deleted my description and filled in the title of the auction. This has been an ongoing issue apparently (have seen posts back to 2019). A bit worrisome if you're doing multiple similar, but not identical items.

Well, to be fair, eBay is only about 25 years old and it can take time to work out the bugs in saving a panel of text.

Based on advice in a similar thread, I have given up using the default "Quick Lister" and am now using the "New Listing Tool" or whatever they call it.   See https://community.ebay.com/t5/Share-eBay-Technical-Issues/Descriptions-disappear-when-listing-new-it... 

That has some of its own problems but at least doesn't dump the Description at every opportunity.

I just had the exact same issue.  I am going to have **bleep** off buyers if I can no longer accurately describe items.  No idea why it worked up until this week and now I cannot even revise the listing.

I'm having the same issue! I have to copy the text after typing it out, then after listing the item I then have to revise it. Pasting the text in and confirming the revision is the only way to get the description text to save. It's very annoying and only very recently (within the last couple days) started happening. I hope they fix it soon!

I have had the same issue.  It is happening every listing now.  I have had to go in and revise and it has happened again.  Once, took two revisions.  It usually reverts to my title description, when I hit List.

Did that. It still disappears when making any changes, including shipping method or a price change. If that's not bad enough, it deletes the description when you click "List" and reverts to the listing title. I've tried three browsers, new installations, etc. Ad Block is off. (That is not the problem anyway.)

Many complaints from people, but NO FIXES. This has been going on for 4 months. Why won't they fix it???
