For the last few days when my browser automatically loaded eBay as my preferred site I keep getting errors. I changed my auto load page to Etsy and have not had any problems with their site, Google or any other site. Just eBay.
Also when I use the Internet drop down list to go to eBay I get the same error messages. The only way I have been able to access eBay is through outside items such as items sold and various other assorted items. This is getting really tedious when I need to list, promote and ship items.
What's going on. Is anyone else having an issue?

Which browser are you using?
It's possible that there is some ad or script on the main page that is causing problems for your particular browser. If that's the case, and you are looking for a workaround, try bookmarking this page instead of going to the main page:

Yes, same problem. Started a couple of days ago, but was only a temp. hang then. Now get an error and can't access the site. I also used a backdoor method to get in, but many won't know this.
Clearing cache and cookies has never worked yet for any Technical Issue I've had.
Not sure how many Internet Explorer customers there are, but I assume that many are experiencing the same problem and are locked out. All other merchant sites I use work fine. Guess eBay doesn't care about losing IE Customers.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm using Internet Explorer but as I said in the original post I am not having any problems with any other websites. Just eBay. Problem still remains this morning.
I don't think eBay cares much about silly little things like not being able to access their website. How many people are we losing when they can't get access and they say, oh well, eBay's not working again I guess I just go to a different place to shop.

They may have determined that the lost revenues from users like yourself shopping elsewhere is less than the cost and trouble of maintaining code that supports IE. IE has always been a problem for websites except in the early days for those coded explicitly to support it. MS chose to do their own thing, and go against the grain of web standards that other browser makers (mostly) agreed on. Often a site can be constructed that works pretty well with most/all browsers except IE, and has to have complex If/Then logic and alternate code to work with IE.
IE is dead (and I say that as someone still using WinXP, and for some things Firefox 2.0 from 2008 ).
Even Microsoft has pretty much officially abandoned IE.

"Internet Explorer 11 isn't being updated to support new Web technology (and indeed, hasn't been updated for many years), existing only as a compatibility tool to access legacy "designed for Internet Explorer" content that simply won't work properly in any other browser."
https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2019/02/microsoft-yeah-we-make-office-2019-and-internet-explorer-but...
I'm actually using the original Firefox 31.0 release from 2014 for most of my eBay stuff, and it mostly works except for some of the newest changes (I use FF52 for those mostly rare occasions). It works when IE11 from 2016 fails because Firefox mostly follows web standards, and doesn't require the special web page and script workarounds to function that IE does.
All just semi-educated speculation, but it comes down to:
1. Either it is an unintended coding error and will get fixed
2. Or, more likely it is a business decision to save resources and money trying to maintain code for a browser segment that is approx 5% of the browser market share, and they determined it is worth the tradeoff of lost sales/purchases to abandon IE support.
Pleasing every customer isn't an option when it costs a lot more additional to cater to a few with special needs - those customers sometimes cost too much to retain (special browser support, too many returns or other problems, etc)
(ie: you spend $1000 a year here of which eBay gets 10% = $100, but they have to pay $500,000 a year for programmers to maintain IE compatible code to service you and the few others using IE, which the bean counter $$ math may not justify)

I'm not a Seller, but a frequent Buyer from may Sellers (since 2010). I've purchased hundreds of items and enjoyed my buying experience for years. All that ended as of the first week of February 2019.
eBay system updates rolled out the first week of Feb. have resulted in huge problems for Buyers and Sellers. The system is not stable, has many technical issues and errors, and has many design/process changes (that appear solely to optimize eBay profits). I've also experienced the worst Customer Support Experience to-date, and I'm a Concierge Member. eBay continues to violate its own published policies and rules, which negatively impact it's Customers, creates extreme frustration, wastes our valuable time (on many long phone calls) and makes me not want to buy here anymore. I feel badly for Sellers having to deal with this, as I'm sure your long calls and wasted time is even greater, while your profits continue to be smaller.

I'm having same error message problems when loading ebay main page. All started when ebay revamped my ebay. Bookmark suggestion ok for experienced ebayers. Most buyers get FRUSTRATED and leave site. As a seller this is costing me TIME & $$$$$$. I'm paying listing FEE'S for items my auctions that potential buyers can't even see, not to mention wasting MY TIME listing items that have ZERO chance of selling. Google this problem, there are THOUSANDS of complaints that fall on deaf ears. C'mon Ebay. All of our computers can't be broken or infected at the same time. FIX this problem EBAY!

Yup, me too. Fine yesterday morning, error messages began yesterday evening. No changes on my end & it only happens on eBay home page and only when using Internet Explorer. Doesn't happen on any other sites. There's another thread about this in the Technical Issues area. I've come up w/a work-around to get past the home page -- see my post for work around; you can also turn on in-private browsing & it won't happen but then you have to log-in each time, which is a pain.

If you are on a Microsoft pc and still using IE then change to Edge it is much better. IF you are on a outdated pc using something like XP then you really need to get something newer other than not being supported you are leaving your self open to hacking and malware. In the meant time try using chrome if you can not use IE and cant get edge. That way you at least can get to ebay. One thing that I did not see mentioned is try clearing your history and browser data. While it is standard ebay tech support tactic to avoid addressing site issues you might have a old outdated script or link that is no longer valid. If this is a error on ebays end it is not likely their reps will acknowledge and report it to their server team for some time. They tend to go by well if it working one way then that is how it should be after all they mainly read the help articles and never use ebay to buy and sell items. So when things do not work right it is hard to get them to understand the issue you are having is not the norm. If you are accessing ebay from a link, bookmark, or short cut try a google or bing search for ebay.
then click on the main result to see if that will take you to the main page with no errors. If it does delete you old link, bookmark, or shortcut then create a new one from the current search result link that is working. It does sound like a script issue so perhaps run windows update there may be a update you have not installed that will fix this issue. However as I stated if you are using a older os and browser that Microsoft is phasing out support then you really need to upgrade to a newer pc and in the mean time use chrome.

I've done all of the normal tech support garbage.... clear history etc.... What really bothers me about this whole scenario is that I have no problem with any other websites at all! According to one of the responses above it may not be financially viable for eBay to correct the problem. My question is.... why is there no problem with all of the other big dollar websites?
