eBay,
Please investigate issues with the eBay app in regards to youtube video links.
Simple (a tag) direct links do not work anymore on the eBay app.
I have several individuals I help sell classic cars. VIDEOS sell.
Please either fix (roll-back) the recent app changes
OR re-engineer the way videos work.
I would much rather have a box in the listing creation process to insert my youtube link. Then just display it so it plays within the auction listing (no clicking to leave ebay, etc...).
Thanks - Steve

Hi your best bet is to post this on both mobile app boards
The mobile app teams responds there , not here on the tech board

I looked at your current listing and the link does not include the attribute to open the video in a new page. I wonder if that is the problem. Do you know how to add the target attribute using the HTML tab of the desktop listing form?
Instead of this
<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XtbxlstV44">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XtbxlstV44</a>
change to this
<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XtbxlstV44" target="_blank">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XtbxlstV44</a>
Let us know if that makes a difference.

Added and does not work.
This is an eBay App issue as it has worked in the past. The App attempts to open the link inside the App (I get that ebay doesn't want customers to leave, fine). Approx. 30 days ago youtube links worked fine. Now it just opens as a blank page in the App. I have found other peoples listings and their links do the same thing in the App. Tested on Android and iOS. Works fine in desktop and mobile browsers.
Video helps sell vehicles.

Yes, this NO longer works on the Ebay App!!!
All links just display a blank page in the Ebay App only...
Yes, my code is per the new Ebay policy...

I'm still experiencing this same exact issue. Has anyone gotten feedback from Ebay or found a resolution on their own for opening YouTube links in the ebay apps?

Thank you for your recent confirmation that the app is still not supporting video links. The problem is that the app has turned off javascript and YouTubes's linked video runs javascript to determine which video format to load into the device. So, at this point, there is still no App support for YouTube linked videos. I recommend that users continue to post this complaint on one of the Apps forums to keep it in front of the App designers.

Embedded HTML 5 videos should work, but that means hosting a video in MP4 format on a secure external server somewhere and using HTML5 <video></video> tags in the description.

Hello,
i have a solution that works with Android.
(Sorry. Im from Germany. Hope you understand my English)
Its important that you upload your: .mp4 Video on a external https:// webspace.
Then insert this code on your Ebay description:
<a target="_blank" href="https://xxxyourhosterxxx.com/video.mp4"><img src="https://xxxyourhosterxxx.com/videoimage.jpg"></a>
Important: Replace: xxxyourhosterxxx with the domain where you uploaded your video
Look my Example from 27.09.2018:
https://www.ebay.de/itm/362444384351
Open the link https://www.ebay.de/itm/362444384351
with the Ebay App on your Android Phone and klick on the image:
Bye.
