We just started getting this error email in the last few days.
Prior to this, it was working fine.
The email address we are replying from hasn't changed and it is the email address the message was received it. We have this email address set up in Account Preferences > Delivery Options > "Send messages to other members" and "Receive messages from other members".
Ebay customer support was not helpful (they do not understand the problem, do not understand that you can set things up the way we had it set up, and we can't share links or videos/screenshots to show them (via chat at least)).

I checked my own settings and don't find exactly (Send/Receive) what you list here. I am, however, able to follow to Account Preferences/Communications Preferences/Delivery Options/Notification Delivery Format and am able to 'Edit' it to 'Include graphics'.
Could it be that your settings changed on you?

Sorry about that. The path you noted to get to the settings is correct.
In my settings I have the option to set the "Send messages to other members" and "Receive messages from other members":

Since email addresses are 'scrambled' to go through 'ebay first'; there's probably just a glitch.
Best to always answer through ebay messages and all messages you may get 'also' on your email, will be there.
I've NEVER responded via 'email' although I see all messages are in my email (which I just delete since they are also in ebay messages in 'my ebay')
