We see a huge drop in sales and traffic occurring since July 1. Sales are currently down -45%. Traffic impressions falling since July 1. We see very poor search results and eBay search suggestions do not match key words. Search for Porcelain, eBay shows glass items. We had steady sales for 90 days until this happened. Now, nothing. What happened on July 1 that caused such a huge drop in activity?

A lot of people have gone back to work after being in lock down for 3 months. And their stimulus check has probably be used up.

In the states, we suspect the realization that the $600 in unemployment benefits is drying up a the end of this month.  And that people are having to go back to work (at reduced wages) and no longer can stay on unemployment (make more on unemployment than working). And that the $1200 in CARES payment is spent.  Without any stimulus  going forward, retail is about to see what 11.1% unemployment feel like.

For us, we saw 20% increase in sales in May (mom) and almost 300% increase in sale in June (mom).   Just crazy.

We were selling. Steady daily sales, usually multiple items per day. 350 active listings. Daily sales in April. May and June. EBAY changes search on July 1, sales tank. Sales decreased 50% or more since July 1. Search results - very poor - EBAY shows unrelated items to search terms. For certain keywords, eBay will steer the search into particular categories. This is part of the "Search Expansion" feature along with keyword substitution, and it is designed to make it easy for buyers to find the items they are actually interested in buying. If you are a seller listing an item, and you want that item to appear in a particular search, you should try doing the search to see if it is directed into a single category; if so, you should list your item in that category if you want it to appear in that search.

If you are searching and you do not want your search to default into a particular category you can manually change to "All categories" and search again, or else you can incorporate search commands such as quotes or exclusions in your search terms to disable the Search Expansion features.

Yes, we had an item listed for 3 months at 5 dollars. Edited it to a different category, raised price to 10 dollars, sold next day. Search "should have" picked it up 3 months ago. Search very dependent on categories now. WE CALL THIS POOR SEARCH RESULTS.

From one day to another impressions down from 300K per day to 20K. HUGE drop with no answer. I'm on day 7 with this problem and i keep calling back everyday and nothing. Sales dropped tremendously. Super worried now and it's not the economy, this is a huge issue i see a lot having. I search for my items and they are not showing up most of the time. Posting 30-70 items per day and nothing.

Those were the lockdown months when everyone was at home and on their computers buying online.

July 1 lockdown restrictions were lifted in many locations across the country and that was also the start of the July 4th holiday when most people wanted to get away from their computers and get outdoors to enjoy their summer.  Also you have to keep listing actively to show up higher in search results and impressions.

This would be the most reasonable explanation for your drop in sales.
