Updated app, now can't upload photos

Yesterday I updated the eBay app on my Android. Today I sat down to do some listings, and when I attempt to 'upload photos from mobile', the app on my phone will only access 'cloud media app.' 

I am at a total loss here. I can click on albums, but it won't show them all (only shows 4). At the very top of the screen it now says, "This app can only access the photos you select." 

Before today, I have never seen this 'cloud media app' option. Does anyone have any idea what is going on? I have gone into every single setting that I can find. In my eBay app settings, I have it set to access all photos on my phone. Not sure what else to do.

No prob @heirloomangel . eBay typically releases app updates every Monday. You'll probably have to live with this for the next week at least, but hopefully eBay will have a fix built in to next week's update. 🤞

In the meantime, if others run into this problem they should "shake to report." And you can always access eBay from a web browser on your device to upload pics if the app is temporarily problematic.

I've had this happen serval times. 

1. Go to settings

2. Select Apps

3. Click 3 dots in upper right hand corner

4. **bleep** reset app permissions (this will reset every app by the way)

5. Allow all pictures in app again. 

6. Click media app button and there should be an option for your Google photos now

Select Google photos and it should load all the albums again

@carnage717  While I appreciate the suggestion, there is no way I'm doing that. First, I just want to be able to choose from my all of my albums (I personally don't use Google photos). Second, I'm not about to have to go into every other app and reset the permissions because of a glitch in the eBay app.

I'll wait for the update that solves the issue.

This fix doesn't work for most unfortunately. It's an ongoing issue for iPhone & android users even when operating OS8 or above. I & multiple others have started threads tagging ebay & also messaged directly including screenshots. No one has replied. What happens is Ebay deny & stall you then finally admit there's a problem.  This billion $ company should have the best tech & a smooth app. It does not.  I can also only access 4 albums like so many others. Begore the update there was a browse button on the app listing so you could go into certain galleries/ albums. That tool has gone.  It's caused such inconvenience I have used a different platform lile thousands of other sellers. Ebay just point blank refuse to announce that they've caused a problem with the latest update. I wish they'd just leave things alone.  Uninstall reinstall etc simply doesn't work. I'm on Samsung OS 14 so I'm.way anoice the required 10 but I can't do any listijgs. Ebay will lose fees until they fix & that often takes 6 weeks or more.

@njluxe I'm also on Android os14. Another platform I was on years ago used to do this same darn thing all the time! They drop LIVE code, KNOW full well there is an issue, but send everyone on the 'clear cookies/cache, uninstall, reinstall, reset permissions' goose chase. I'm not doing it. I KNOW this is an app issue.

I did put an actual ticket in to tech about this, but who knows how long it will take them. They should test this stuff on a group who volunteer to check out new updates (like beta testers) before dropping this junk. Just my opinion though, and we all know what those are like. 😂

Totally agree.  They are buying time.  The whole point of using the app is it's supposed to be quicker ! I will keep an eye on this thread. Thanks for replying  😃

So frustrating! Latest eBay app broke this... This significantly affected my workflow in a negative manner. Any word? 

Note: Android 14 on Moto phone with all the latest security, playstore, and Android OS updates

Check your apps. Mine is FINALLY 'fixed' as of this morning! Granted, there are more steps to take to get to what I want than before, but at least I can get to them now!

@eBay  If it isn't broken, PLEASE don't fix it! You are losing money by making sellers jump through hoops and take more steps to list items. They will find alternate marketplaces to list through. Not a threat, just a statement of fact.

@heirloomangel  Thanks for the update. I reinstalled & so far it's working.  Fingers crossed this continues as it's been such an inconvenience & lile you say- forced sellers to use other platforms.

I just uninstalled/reinstalled and still having the same issue where only able to select Cloud App.. bummer!

Unfortunately the issue is not fixed for me and as you can see many others still. I ensured I'm on the newest Android eBay app. Still I can only select "Cloud Media", many Albums are not visible, and unable to select my Gallery app.

I should note: when this issue first occured I updated both an Android OS update and the eBay. Perhaps the newest Android app caused a conflicting issue with eBay? Or maybe just a coincidence, and solely the eBay app is to blame.

UPDATE: I solved it. I uninstalled the eBay app and install the latest 6.196.0.2 (Feb 18) version from apkmirror. For whatever reason, the playstore did not have nor show any available updates as I was on an older version.

NOTE: From a security point of view, I do not recommend installing apps that are not from the Android Playstore. However, apkmirror has a positive reputation overall.
