Update Promoted Listing

Almost all of my promoted listings are showing "Update promoted listing" on the manage active listings page.  When I go to the promoted listing page and click edit on the campaign, everything looks like it is being promoted the way I set it up.  Is this happening to anyone else?  Is it a known glitch?

I noticed this yesterday too and didn't know what it meant either.  It looks like an error, but I don't think it is.  I'm thinking they added it there so when you click on it you can just change that listings promoted listing %.  I ended a promotion to see what happened.  Those unpromoted items then had a green dot and said something like Promote Item.  I promoted the items again and they again have the blue dot saying Update Promoted Listing.  When I click on it, it has the correct % that I chose and everything looks OK.  I don't think it's a glitch, it just looks like an error but it's not.  Think it's just an option to easily go right to an item and change the %.

Oh I also forgot to say that last night when I was trying to figure out this same thing thinking it was some kind of error and that my items were not promoted...I received 3 sales that were all through Promoted Listings.  So that also kind of affirmed that the items were being promoted.  Hope this helps!

I wish eBay would let us know when they change things, so we don't have to try to figure it out ourselves.  I was going to end one campaign and redo it to see what happened, but it looks like you already did this and it comes back the same way.  So you are probably correct, they are trying to have sellers change the % ( higher, I'm sure is what they would like) for the campaigns.

Yup, same here but it doesn't seem as it has affect the promoted listed from being promoted. I believe their strategy is for us to keep raising the percentage of promoted listed when needed or at least to keep an eye on the trends of the items.

I noticed this morning the same thing. My click through and impressions have plummeted since this took place. Anyone else notice this happening? It may just go along with the new update I suppose. I too wish ebay would let us know of these changes. I ended my campagne and started a new one and no change.  I suppose giving it 24hours may make a difference.

My impression data was wacky over the weekend.  In the performance area it had one set of figures, but if I clicked to open the report for the same period, the numbers were totally different (much higher numbers).  Today it is looking more like "normal" for me at this time of year.

Some have posted on the selling board that the algorithm may have changed again.  I really do not know about that, but it does seem like every time I hear changes are being made, I can see something wacky for a few days.

It's happing to me to. Won't update, won't do nothing but say update promoted listing. This is Major B's....

I had this brainy idea that maybe eBay has this "update promoted listing" on my listings when the % I selected for the campaign was not the "trending rate".  So, I went into my campaigns and revised the campaign that I launched this morning to apply trending rates.  Made absolutely no difference...those listings still show "Update promoted listing".

I came to the forums today just for this issue, and I’m relieved to see it’s not just me. I also noticed my impressions and click-through rates have taken a nosedive since the 10th. I ended the old campaign and started a new one.

When you ended the campaign and started a new one did the "update promoted listing" go away?  Hopefully, one of the Blues will come to this thread tomorrow and give us some insight as to what is going on.

Update to yesterday's post: This morning my impressions and click through are back up and all seems to be great. The update promoted listings button is definitely easier to click on specific items that you might want to promote at a different percentage to get it moving.  Everything else is now running smoothly on my end especially since I understand now what the button is doing.

I have done several things to my promoted listings to try to get the "update promoted listing" to go away or change to something that would indicate that an update is completed.  I ended a campaign and launched it gain applying trending rates, edited a campaign and set the rates all higher than the trending rates, clicked on an individual listing's update promoted listing button, changed the % and then clicked promote.  None of these changed what I am seeing on my active listings page, which still shows that all of my promoted listings need to be updated.

So, my question is what needs to be updated?  If I update a promoted listing and the "update promoted listing" is still there, it seems to me, that I really did not accomplish anything.
