Re: Unresponsive script in watch list and purchase history.

Yes!  I am amazed at the constant tickering that always generates the same performance issues each and every time.  This past week, using ebay has been the worst I've seen.  It's slow and very unsresponsive.  If you scroll down through a search page you'll see a completely blank, white screen for a few seconds before it catches up.  Gallery photos on my Watch List and Purchase History page take forever to show up.  This is getting brutal....

Re: Unresponsive script in watch list and purchase history.

I found an interim solution for as long as ebay still hosts the bad script. If you are using Firefox with AdBlockPlus enabled (as I am - Windows 7 Ultimate, Firefox 54.0.1/32bit) you can create a custom filter. Under Filter preferences, select Custom Filter, Add Filter group, name it, select it, Add filter, then paste "templates-js-18f92b.js" in the rule and enable. So far, my Purchase history page (which is where I was getting the error) reloads just fine and I do not notice any loss of functionality. I will update if I finally find some function that appears to be missing... This filtering function should be available on other browsers, but I have limited experience with other than the Fox.

Re: Unresponsive script in watch list and purchase history.

Thanks that worked for me.

I'm not sure that I did it under the exact same tab  in ABP settings, but it got the job done. Doesn't seem like I need the script, so I don't care if they ever fix it, the ABP setting will be staying the same.

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to update you all that I've heard back from our tech teams at this point and they have looked at the examples I've provided so far. This kind of error is technically a browser issue, which means that the browser (Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, etc.) has downloaded the script but thinks the script is taking too long to run or that the script is slowing down performance. We were even able to find a resource from Firefox to elaborate further on this error message (here for your reference).

While I can only speak specifically to the examples we've had reported with detail to our tech teams, so far it seems that the underlying factor is system limitations of the device used to access the page. Assuming there have not been upgrades to an older computer, most from 2002 or older actually have less memory than the standard smartphone today. This can restrict how much your device is able to do at once.

That being said, I've love to get specifics from everyone so we can resolve the issue if needed. Even if you have already provided this in the thread previously, could everyone reply to this comment with answers to the following:

- Browser and browser version
- Computer operating system
- Are there several tabs / applications running simultaneously?
- If so, does closing those other tabs / applications and then reloading the page resolve the issue?

To be clear, we are still investigating to see if any recent changes have caused an error and answers to these questions will help us investigate fully. I appreciate everyone's help!

Re: Unresponsive script in watch list and purchase history.

I started having problems with pages freezing around July 7th.  When scrolling on Ebay the pages will continually freeze for at least 8 seconds or sometimes longer, then suddenly I can scroll again. It's very frustrating and hard to look at anything on Ebay. I am not receiving any script warning from my browser when this happens,  though it does seems like some sort of script issue.

I am using a fairly new desktop (certainly not anywhere near as old as what you mentioned in  your post on this issue) ,  latest version of Windows 10, latest version of Firefox and Chrome (problem occurs on both.)  I don' t have any extra tabs open on the browser when this happens and the only thing open on my computer, other than the browser, is Task Manager.

Re: Unresponsive script in watch list and purchase history.

Hi Trinton, not sure if this is the same issue.

The Purchase History page only is freezing for over a week now. It loads a couple items, then is completely blank the rest of the page. I cannot pay for items or click on anything on that page. My work around is I have been paying from the item page itself (recommended by a community poster).

I don't get an error message, just blank white page.

Info requested:

Working on Apple iMac desktop; operating system up to date (I don't know where to find version)

Using Safari

No other tabs open

Hope this helps to resolve this issue. Started for me last week and still continues! So glad you have finally been notified of this issue and hope it will be fixed soon! No one can pay from that page or request invoices.

Diane

WinXP SP3.

No any other tabs/apps.

Latest Firefox (52.2.1) - problem exists, script doesn't respond.

Latest Chrome (49.0.2623.112 m) - Purchase History loads without errors. But very slow and without Notes for items.

Re: Unresponsive script in watch list and purchase history.

Blame it on the browser, the computer,  the operating system, other applications running, etc.  Never had a problem with the purchase history page in the last few years using Firefox or Chrome.   I blame it on the ebay programmers.  Please fix the problem.  Old adage:  If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I agree 100%, eBay is getting close to being unusable now. This issue has been going on for at least 10 days with multiple threads started complaining of the same issue. When does this get fixed??

Re: Unresponsive script in watch list and purchase history.

OS: Windows 10
Firefox 54.0.1 (32 bit)
mozilla 115 - 1.0
NO PLUGINS, I disabled ALL and put NEVER ACTIVATE in Add-ons Manager

No other tabs or applications running except 1 tab for WATCH LIST to search which always snags up when going from one item to another I get Mozilla not responding and Script error.

When I debug script I copied, I found these bits and pieces HIGHLY DISTURBING such as:
loaderMetadata:function(b){x.__loaderMetadata
/mfePluginSmartResize
tracking info could be missing.")})};e.prototype.sendRoverTracking=function(a){var b={},c;for(c in this.trackingDefault)this.trackingDefault.hasOwnProperty
d=setTimeout(function()
"x-ebay-c-tracking":this.$element.data("x-ebay-c-tracking")
setTimeout(a.sendImpressionTracking.bind(this),d.IMPRESSION_TRACKING_AJAX_DELAY)},

PROBLEMS When using besides script error:

1 tab for PURCHASE HISTORY
Occasionally get off purchase to pay without probs.
On Purchase History, the Add note / Edit note won't work
On Watch list I cannot change # of items per page I'm watching

Closing tabs does NOT resolve the issue.

Case in point:
When I first log onto my comp and into eBay, it immediately starts with script errors going between search items and back to watch list almost every time.

I got in and created a custom filter for: "templates-js-18f92b.js"
~AND~
https://secureir.ebaystatic.com/rs/c/templates-js-18f92b.js:7

NOTHING CHANGED~!

Re: Unresponsive script in watch list and purchase history.

hi yes, all the same freezing in purchase history/watch mentioned by everyone - pur hist sometimes a minute or so, watch list delayed by seconds, then "bounces" me to different item than i want to select...

greatly affects our ability to do anything - using:

MAC OS X El capitan 10.11.6/ browser FIREFOX 54.0.1

- as stated prev, seems pointless in any way try to isolate to OS/browser but how much will it have to cost  to backout this script?
