It's actually VERY easy to use, shows what they said, what you said and all back and forth all in 1 place.

The 'old' way you'd have to scroll through all the messages to find the possibly multiple messages from 1 person, then look at the SENT folder and find each message sent to that 1 person.

The old way was HORRIBLE.

The new way is Fantastic.

Luckily, it's better and easier and will NEVER change because this is how ALL Message systems are now being presented.

I have only used it a handful of times and I thought the same.  The messages shown in thread form are much more efficient.

Hi @talkietime

Sadly, it reminds me of my Kindergarten report card with the silly balloons on the left and space wasting Preview pane on the right.  I have already had to provide screen shots to help members use it.  It is clearly designed for mobile devices and not PCs ... sad but true.  I don't use my phone for eBay ...

The old system let me see 12 messages on the page, this new layout, like most new page layouts, shows fewer messages or less information.

I think I will see a drop off in messages from my customers who might want to share a story about something they purchased ... like they or their parents had it when they were kids and wanted to get one for their kids.

I have never needed to use Folders in eBay messaging.

There is also NO slider bar to move up and down the list of messages ... YEP, back to scrolling and scrolling and scrolling and scrolling ... a popular design feature fo the IT department.

Just tried to message a buyer back with the correct part number they need for a repair and the AI system sent me a warning message flagging it. Do better ebay.

Yes. Message was basically. Sorry this part will not work for your model. You need part number MAG123456789 A normal message I send all the time without getting flagged. Guess the word number is now flag worthy?

That and possibly the part number.  I had some goofy flags sharing some technical specs with a customer that included numbers.

They might think you are trying to send a phone number.

Figured as much, I normally try and pass my customers along to other ebay sellers if and when I don't have the correct item they need. Looks like I'll just stop doing it. Don't want to risk upsetting AI and getting my account in trouble.

Re: The new format for MESSAGES is very difficult to use. Please return to the earlier format.

This messaging format is appalling, & it is getting worse by the week,

I have only a small shallow space tucked down in the left hand corner of my screen, in which to read or reply to messages, & it is impossible to scroll through a long message without leaping from the top to the bottom.

When I write to a seller or new buyer the screen goes grey, leaving a tiny window at the bottom right corner in which to write your message, who in their right mind signed off on this?

This is categorically the worse "improvement" that eBay have ever rolled out, it is simply unfit for the job it is meant to do.

Also there is no way to see at a glance those messages you have not read, I am constantly missing messages, & when you want to give a decent reply, again, the space is too small, this is an absolutely ridiculous format, please, please eBay improve it for those of us who use a computer to do most of our work.

@aristocratsandgypsies

If you have messages from members forwarded to your email address set up in your Communication Preferences, you should be able to read and reply directly to the emails, bypassing eBay's message inbox entirely unless you want to see messages from eBay there.

For a long response I have gotten into the habit of writing the message in another program such as word. I then cut and paste into the eBay message.
