Store Traffic Reports Not Updated Since 7/11/2019

I already contacted eBay via twitter @AskeBay. I was told it was reported but not given a time frame when the data would be updated.

The store traffic reports have not been updated since July 11, 2019.

Honestly considering everyone who has a store pays a subscription fee that includes this analytics package, eBay needs to address this ongoing issue.

My question to eBay does anyone there monitor this or does it take someone from the community to report the issues.?

Thanks,

Neil's Hot Deals

Traffic reports and the analytics are free.  This interface is available to all sellers, whether or not you subscribe to a store.

I have been calling about this issue of traffic reports not updating twice a month for years and am always told it is a bug. A bug....that goes on for years? Well I just called them again and am now being told that traffic reports and the analytics we pay for will now only be updated once a month. That's right......you will now once a month see 30 month old information, only once a month. How does that help us to sell exactly and why do we pay each month for information that will be 30 days in the past? So if you do any promotions just know you will have no idea how they are doing because the performance reports will only be updated once a month on the 3rd Tuesday of the month and the information contained there will be at least 30 days old. Having worked in sales and marketing for a company that sold items online, having worked with their IT team (of two people) and the multiple sales and marketing info we updated daily to our customers and sellers, I really have no idea how this company stays going? I'm also very confused on what exactly I pay for? I'm being told I pay monthly for tracking and performance reports but if those reports are always 30 days old......not sure what I am really paying for? My reports have not been updated since July 23rd and I was told they now will update near the end of August. 😞

eBay Technical Issues and Glitches are free too.

But, Sellers pay for those ... when things don't work correctly and they can't run their businesses properly.

griff@ebay.com   The issues with impressions run much deeper than just the constantly lagging dates.  The impression counts on the promoted listings page are 2 to 3x the impression counts on the performance page.  When I separate out just the listings that ARE promoted and compare THOSE impression counts to the promoted listing impression counts, the promoted listings impression counts are over 8x higher.  (And I did make sure that the date periods coincided for the two pages, it's a straight up apples to apples).

The impression count numbers are demonstrably wrong, either by bad coding, bad data or bad intentions.  eBay needs to figure this out and get us accurate data if they expect us to use these numbers for anything useful.

Hi texley3

The number of impressions for a promoted listing ideally, should always be higher than the impressions for the same listing shown in the Traffic report data. That's exactly what Promoted Listings should be providing. An impression is the number of times a listing is shown to a buyer in a category or list of search results, that is, the listing is in front of a buyer either immediately once the page of results is loaded or if the buyer scrolls down the page and sees your listing in the list. A promoted listing impression works the same way with one difference: Since a promoted listing will show up more often at the top of a page of search results, or at the top of a category or in other places where buyers may see them, immediately (without scrolling), that listing as promoted, will often receive more impressions than the same listing in its unpromoted location.  Remember, a promoted listing has two locations at any one time; the unpromoted location (within a category or search result list) and the promoted location (usually at the top of a list of search results or a category).

The data for impressions under Traffic Reports indicates the impressions for a listings un-promoted location. The impression data for the same item in the Promoted Listings metrics if for that item's impressions in its promoted listing location. If Promoted Listings is working for an item, the Promoted impression data should always be higher than the Traffic impression data for that same item.

Hi, This happens every single month and has been happening for years. I call in about the traffic reports and performance reports not updating at least 2 or 3 times a month. Most times they will tell you it is a bug they are working on. It is not as it has been going on for years. Sometimes they will tell you that is the way it is supposed to be. I worked as a marketing director and with IT so I know that is untrue. Once they told me they no longer update traffic reports or the performance reports but once a month. Not sure how that would help any seller? Today the reports are 9 days behind and have not updated since 8/4/2019 and it is the 13th of August. You will notice the further in time from the actual dates to the updating of the reports the less traffic you will get until it bottoms out with hardly any traffic and little sales and then once or twice a month they will update the report and you'll show recent traffic. I really don't think anyone at ebay cares or watches this. I know because I call in once a month about it and have for years. I guess they don't care or they need a new IT department.

We all try to update the traffic reports on our seller hub and that never works. I've tried that for years.

The math doesn't exactly add up, based on that description the promoted listing shouldn't possibly be able to get many multiples more than the original listing, unless if you aren't showing up on the first page at all (it would make sense then if a Sponsored Listing appears without a normal item) or if you're showing up on searches that don't actually match the item.

In this case, wouldn't it hurt the items search results? Impression data makes the most sense when interpreted as "Customer searched for X, which matches our listing". If you're getting loads of impressions on, for example, category pages... but those aren't rewarding clicks.

My other interpretation on everything being said in that message... it honestly just seems like a round-about way of officially confirming that "un-promoted listings" are not showing up regularly, no?

One other thing it reminds me of. I reported the bug where the impressions page statistics in Sellers Hub was NOT matching the internal impressions statistics provided to us by Sellers Health back in April 2018. I was told that Sellers Health would get back to me and that they "didn't forget about me", and to this day have never had a response on the inconsistencies... (as well as other questions were raised regarding those statistics and problems that were at fault of eBay which damaged our store).

@zamo-zuan griff@ebay.com

I agree zamo, it still doesn't add up when the promoted impressions rates are up to 8x more on any one date.   When I review specific promoted items I'm almost always on the first page, so I would think that for buyers searching my item should appear twice on the first page, once promoted and the original.  Doesn't account for the significant difference in counts.

And I agree it kinda supports the theory out there that our non-promoted listings are getting buried.

Hi All traffic report users, eBay has heard sellers feedback and launched a new traffic report https://www.ebay.com/sh/prf/traffic to show sellers real time traffic insights. Please share your feedback on this new report.

The new Traffic Reports (left sidebar) in the Seller Hub / Performance tab are flawed.  Mine reports that yesterday I had ZERO impressions and ZERO page views... for 500 items... for the entire day.   Promoted listings generated a few clicks... but Organic listings were flatlined.  Well... at least that matches with the decrease in sales.

When reported to customer service they had no idea what was wrong.  I've posted a more detailed description in the "Technical Issues" thread...
