Buyers unable to Request Total from Sellers when the items are discounted

I've been having this problem quite often. All my buyers are complaining about getting a pop up that states "This can not be done as the seller has already discounted these items" when they are trying to request a total in order to get an accurate combined shipping charge. As a seller, even if I'm offering a discount I definitely would want my buyers to request a total so that I can give them a reasonable shipping fee. This is a technical issue because it does not help the ebay sellers to get the sales moving faster.

They'll never "fix it" as ebay believes once a buyer has been given a discount (on item cost) there's no need to give a further discount on shipping.

They can't seem to wrap their tiny pin heads around the concept of a shipping discount being a separate thing to an item discount.

You are right. The problem is that the customers do not think the same way that ebay does. Combining shipping is not a discount, it is more about getting charged a reasonable shipping fee based on the weight of the entire order. As a seller, I agree with the customers. Ebay should fix this.

I've been fighting this idiocy for YEARs.  Been slapped several times for being outspoken about the issue. 

brian@ebay Please add this report to the 3 year old list of sellers that would like to see this changed.
