Selling limits calculations are incorrect

Tonight I suddenly stopped being able to list because I had reached a selling limit of 750.  I never received any message that I was nearing selling limits, which your help pages say I should received.

At the same time, I began seeing monthly selling limits on the My E-Bay All Selling page.  I don't recall seeing  those earlier in the day.  It appears like as soon as that showed up, I stopped being able to list.

Anyway, I didn't think I had 750 items listed & sold in February.  So I manually added up my numbers, and I am correct.

I have 308 active listings.  11 listings have variations, with a total of 281 variations.  So my item count would be 308 + 270 = 578 total items.

Then if I look at listings with multiple quantities, it would be another 31 items.  578 + 31 = 609.

I have sold 18 items in February.  609 + 18 = 627 items.

So your system was incorrectly telling me I had reached a limit of 750, when I was actually at 627.  There is something wrong with your count!

I the meantime, I contacted your selling limit department and had them increase my limit to 1500, until you can find and fix whatever bug you have suddenly unleashed on a Friday evening!

Re: Selling limits calculations are incorrect

I think I found your problem.  If I have a variation with a quantity of 0, it counts that as a listed item.

Example, if you creating a listing for quantity 1 each of Red, Blue, and White shirts with sizes S, M, L, that is 9 variations that will be created if you allow E-Bay to automatically populate your variations.

But if  you have 0 small red shirts, and 0 Large white shirts, and you just leave the quantity of those at 0 (in case you get some later), E-bay would count those two zero quantity variations as part of your selling limit.

Now, just like I found it hard to believe that I had 750 items listed, which I was correct that I don't, I also find it very hard to believe I have 123 0 quantity variations in 11 listings with variations (I am 100% certain that I don't).

So I believe there is still something wrong with your system.

Also, another reason you shouldn't count zero quantity variations is obvious.  If I have 3 variations with quantity of 1, and I sell one of those, the quantity goes to 0.

Then your system would could the 1 sale toward my limit, plus the o quantity variant.  So every item sold, would count double towards your limit!  That's not right!

Re: Selling limits calculations are incorrect

I can confirm that the error is in variation listings.

I had a variation GTC listing "end" today and then rollover.  When it did that, my "You can list" number increased by a net of 18.

The 18 number really makes no sense to me.  That listing had 33 items in it with 24 variations.  When it "ended" my available listing went up by 51, and then back down by 33 on the rollover, netting me 18 additional available listings.

So maybe after a month of GTC rollovers, the count will fix itself.

Re: Selling limits calculations are incorrect

Hello. I'm having a similar issue, I'm unable to list any more items since my count appears to be near 7000, when I actually have nearly 2500 unsold listings & 700 active listings (my limit is 3500, so It's impossible I could've surpassed that quantity). What should I do? I swear to god, Ebay gets worse with time...

Re: Selling limits calculations are incorrect

I am also having this issue. It states 601 maxed out. I only have half of that listed and now its canceling about 100 of them today.  I certainly did not sell 300 items in a week.

Re: Selling limits calculations are incorrect

They are showing mine at $10M and 24,965listed and sold / 30,000 limit on quantity of items,

That is about 10x the actual figures. Started April2, they admitted system fault and said fixed by the 20th,

2500 of my gtc items have been delisted by the restriction and no sign of a fix.
