Scammed by fake tracking number

I was scammed out of $600 by an ebay seller. the seller provided a fake tracking number that shows the package was shipped 7 days BEFORE I PURCHASED the item and was delivered 20 minutes BEFORE I PURCHASED the item. i invoked ebay's money back guarantee, but they sided with the seller because the person had a tracking number showing delivered. They didn't even bother to realize that it would be impossible for the package to ship and be delivered before i even purchased the item. and now i am just out $600. Will not be using ebay again. beyond frustrated with how quickly they dismissed this case.

Re: Scammed by fake tracking number

You’re NOT out $600! Which carrier did they say they used? Go to that carrier and ask for a printout that the item was delivered to an address other then yours. If USPS go to your local post office and ask the clerk to do it. If clerk won’t ask to speak to the manager. If UPS, you can contact their fraud department and they won’t tell you the Address it went to but they will confirm if it was not shipped to your address. It is the same with FedEx. Both fraud department for UPS and FedEx can be found on their website and you can email them. You may also be able to call them. I’ve had this happen to me with both USPS and FedEx and I’ve always gotten my money back. You simply supply eBay with that information. It’s a little legwork on your part and definitely a pain in the butt but for $600 it’s worth it.

Re: Scammed by fake tracking number

Can you re-submit the complaint? Maybe call them so you can better explain yourself?
