I have been receiving emails from ebay regarding items purchased by another buyer for a long time now. Our email addresses are very similar. The only difference is that my email has a dot in it and his doesn't. I get several of these a day and would like to have them stopped.

If you're getting emails, they're likely scams because ebay doesn't make members' email addresses public. And if they're legitimate email messages from an ebay member, you'll also have those messages in your ebay messages.
If the messages are in ebay, respond with a comment of, "I believe your purchase is from another seller with a similar ID. I didn't sell anything to you."

The emails I'm receiving are from ebay@ebay.com and they are not shown in my ebay messages. They are addressed to the member with a similar ID who lives in Australia. The messages are detailed notifications of orders placed and shipped. The emails don't seem to be trying to scam me in any way.

If you know the members ID, have you tried contacting them?

Block it as spam.

Hi @banjoman38al. Would you mind sending one of these emails over to askcommunity@ebay.com so we can take a better look?
Thank you,

They are sent from the same address as the notifications I get from ebay, so I don't want to block them.

I forwarded one of those emails to you.
