"To keep ebay a safe place to buy and sell we will OCCASIONALLY ask you to verify yourself. This helps us to block unathorised users from entering our site"

This annoying message followed by a "captcha" then my sign in, then another "captcha" then a form resubmit and I'm in, EVERY TIME. Ebay has been such a pain in the backside to sign in this week I did all my online shopping on Amazon instead.

In the many years I have been a member of Ebay, I have never known them to react to problems quickly (or sometimes at all).  Can someone at Ebay tell me when this login palaver will end or if we will be tortured with it indefinately?

What a pain in the A__! Has eBay been hacked and this is their way of stopping further hacks? I can see maybe doing it once, but not twice in a row. Anyone minding the store?

Verification is typically used to prevent bots from attempting to sign in to your account -- by proving that you can recognize images you demonstrate that you are not a bot, and then you can proceed with your sign-in.

Sometimes when eBay changes the sign-in process, it causes problems for some users; sometimes those problems can be due to using an old browser or old cookies; some browsers may have more issues than others, apparently. When the sign-in process changes sometimes it helps to delete your old eBay cookies, but every time you delete your cookies you can expect to have to go through strict verification once again.

Many users are currently complaining about having to go through verification more than once to sign in (and some to sign out, apparently). It is not clear if the process will settle down after a period of time or not, yet.

If you are having issues signing in or getting stuck in a verification loop or stuck with a verification page that does not work, here are my general sign-in tips and recommendations:

Make sure you are allowing the sign-in page to load completely before attempting to sign in -- others have indicated that attempting to sign in before the page has loaded can cause problems.

Make sure your browser is set to accept cookies, or try another browser. Make sure your browser allows javascript. VPNs can also cause sign-in issues, so try disabling yours if you use one.

If you get a blank verification slider puzzle there are three buttons at the bottom of the popup -- you can close the popup and try to open it again, you can reload the popup, or you can try an alternative audio version that asks you to enter a series of spoken numbers.

If you still have problems, when you get to a sign-in page again, delete everything in the URL after the .dll part, so that the address looks like this:

https://signin.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll

Then hit 'enter' to load that page -- that should give you the old pre-Facebook sign-in. Once you have signed in there, if eBay gives you another new sign-in page or verification page, click on the eBay logo to go to the main page, and you should be signed in at that point, at least until eBay changes things again.

That worked! After I was logged in, Instead of clicking the ebay logo, I clicked the sign-in again and my name appeared as logged in. Thank you.

THIS IS GETTING INSANE!  I used the IRL someone posted her for sign ins.  Before I did that I couldn't get to may accounts at all..  Now, I'm using two selling accounts because of differences in merchandise that I like to keep separate.  So,  just to sign in I have to 1. match up to the puzzle part  2.  then it won't accept until I key in the correct numbers which sometimes repeats 3 or 4 times.  And most times I have to go to the sign-in page and retype my user name and password two or three times.   3. To sign out I have to match a puzzle part again  (signing out so I can go to the other account) This sign-out check is stupid.  4. Once I sign out it is almost impossible to move to the second account.  It goes to puzzle part then to number matches which it will eventually accept, but then it reverts back to the sign in page and I have to type my name in again and it repeats the puzzle part again.  I LIKE YOU EBAY BUT NOT THIS MUCH!  It is now averaging something over 5 minutes to connect to the first account and 12 minutes to connect to the second account.  I have NEVER had a security problem and the protection is now as much a pain as the hackers because if I can't get to eBay what matters that I have security?

I dont have 2 accounts but do have 2 computers and have used them both no problems for years. Lately the laptop I get the puzzle image but rediculous that I have to keep doing it over and over 3+ and re sign in 3+ times just to get in ebay. Nothing has changed on my laptop but something has at ebay to cause this mess. It has happened in years past but eventually ebay fixes it, wish they would get on with it,,,,sometimes I just rather use my laptop (same IP so what gives?)

Firstly I always use fully updated Windows 10 with Edge. Across all my dozen or so PCs (laptop, tablet and desktops) all have been set to delete cookies when the browser closers; they have been this way for years without this issue previously occurring. I know more and more sites display cookie permission nags but I won't just relent and give blanket cookies.
Secondly, we are all familiar with the captcha bot-check and none of us begrudge using it to protect our accounts, where necessary.
I always let the page load fully; it only takes a fraction of a second, usually.

Using the link you provided worked fine, just like ebay used to, and this across all my machines. How long this will work, I have no idea. Thank you for your help.

Sadly the link provided takes me to ebay.com (USA) and I'm in the UK. Logging into Ebay uk, even while loged into Ebay .com triggers the whole bot-check ball-ache. So no, for me there is no solution yet.

Try this link for the UK sign-in page:

https://signin.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll

For any country-specific site you should be able to recreate that link from an existing sign-in page by deleting everything in the address after the ".dll" part.

It appears that the new sign-in procedure checks for eBay cookies to determine whether or not to require verification, so if you are deleting cookies (or not accepting them) you will likely need to go through verification unless you use the old sign-in link.

Yes, that link does work, thank you. It's likely you are right regarding cookies. I can only imagine most websites will depend on cookies more and more.

I'm also experiencing this and it's super annoying because sometimes it happens other times it doesn't. They should remove this until they get all the kinks ironed out of it or resort to a traditional send a text code ONCE system.  What's worse is they hide themselves from both buyers and sellers so trying to tell them this is a huge problem is next to impossible because they probably don't monitor these threads either.  Guess it's time to start looking at other marketplace sites to list on.

I was having this problem as well. Then I realized that I had my VPN turned on. I turned it off and had no problem after that.
