PayPal still not working at checkout

It is now a week since this issue was raised with Ebay. Three calls to ebay and a call to Paypal resulted in ebay confirming that it is a problem with the Ebay interface with Paypal. The Paypal option to pay for an item does NOT work...the sign-in screen after entering your username and password at checkout  just continues to spin and does not complete the transaction. This is causing great concern to me as a longtime seller since many people prefer to pay with their Paypal balance AND Ebay has long said Paypal should be the preferred payment method. Of greatest concern is the impact this may be having on sales. In addition, it is untenable that Ebay is not responding to this issue...even through a courtesy call or email to let the community know they are on the case. We need this to be fixed and right away !!

I'm sorry this is happening to you and many other Sellers & Buyers. 

I was a frequent buyer here for 9 years until early 2019 and purchased over 1000 items with PayPal.  I stopped buying here a few months ago because of the many, many technical issues here (and other concerns with poor Customer Support).  For over two months I and many other Customers couldn't even sign-in at the eBay Homepage.  I wouldn't expect a quick fix based on my experience here.

I have spent over an hour on the phone with them each day for the past 3 days, They are clueless as to what the problem is and when it will be resolved. It is also affecting the buy it now listings because it won't let the transaction get completed. Vendors are missing out on sales and the trolls at Ebay are not making any money for a no sale.

It took over 2 weeks and numerous phone calls and complaints to Ebay and Paypal but FINALLY, at least today, the checkout using Paypal (and your Paypal balance) is working. Who knows how many customers WE lost, how many new buyers WE turned away from the Ebay marketplace by this neglect of customer service, and how much revenue WE all lost. This type of "technical" issue should never last more than a few hours at worst...not over 2 weeks ! Ebay needs to make sure that customer service is at the top of their priorities.

I guess the fix didn't last long, lol. I've been trying for over an hour to check out on Chrome with PayPal, which is the only payment method the seller accepts. I won the auction, so it's not like I can say, "Oh, well" and purchase a different listing. The loading thing happened for me for awhile, but the last few attempts have seemed like they're going through and then landed on a page that says "We can't process your payment. Try again, or select a different payment method to check out."

@comics-scifi-collectibles  Hi again! Thanks for your response. That strategy seemed like it ALMOST worked. It looked like the order went through, but when I went to check on it, it said "Payment is pending". It stayed like that for a few minutes before disappearing from my purchases and landing right back in my shopping cart. Sigh. I'm going to keep playing around and trying different things (at least for tonight-- after that I'm almost definitely going to get fed up enough to cop out & ask eBay to request an invoice, lol). I'll update if I find anything that works for me. Again, thanks for your reply!

@teamwormsthrift   Thanks for giving me feedback on this..  Maybe it is on paypals end this time if the Canada site work around doesn't work.

I am sure you probably tried the usual...  another browser.... cleared browser history to get rid of bad cookies...

Have the same problem.  Unable to login to Paypal through Ebay for payment. For many years, it use to work without any problems. However, I've tried on multiple browsers and got the same result, even after clearing cookies.  Also tried Australia Ebay with no luck.  I doubt that it's Paypal because after logging in, I've noticed that the status bar on the bottom of the browser says, "waiting for pay.ebay.com..." and then my selected payment option is cleared.  Anybody have a solution for this yet?

@vathosai   Only possible work arounds are putting the items in your cart first, then using checkout.

If you have a pop up blocker installed then I'd disable / remove it temporarily

If you have 2 factor authentication turned with paypal then turn that off temporarily

Have you tried unlinking paypal and ebay?   My ebay> account> paypal> unlink is after your email address.  clear browser history then try paying again.  If that doesn't work link again then try paying again.   

That's all I got other than be sure to report it to CS, as the more reports of an issue the quicker they work on it.  Social media is the best place to report tech related issues

Contact customer service by sending a private message on social media. You leave a message and an eBay employee will get back to you as soon as possible. To speed things up you can leave your registered account information in the PRIVATE message: Full name, address,phone number, email address, user ID and a brief explanation of your problem.

@comics-scifi-collectibles, tried your suggestions but unfortunately, it still didn't work. I ended up using my credit card, and the payment went through. However, I do prefer to use Paypal, and I'm sure it's not Paypal since I'm able to complete purchases on other websites using my Paypal login. Anyway, thanks for your suggestions though. For anyone else having issues, if Paypal doesn't work, try using another payment method.

I had the same experience today. I tried to check out, and tried several different browsers. There seems to be an issue if you have verification services turned on.  I had to pay with another payment option. I hope this gets resolved, as I know it's deterring some transactions.
