I have been working processing orders and trying to answer messages, and when trying to place them in the proper folders for storage you keep sending a red pop up window with the "we are sorry" blahblahblah and then you have no idea where it went....when will you learn to leave things that are not broke alone! GO FIX THE THINGS THAT ARE BROKE....EVERYTHING YOU DO CAUSES MORE PROBLEMS! getting real tired of battling ebay and then trying to explain it to customers....

I sent a second one and it instantly showed up in my sent folder?
The second one may have appeared because it was a reply to an existing thread -- I have not figured out the logic behind which messages or replies appear in the Sent folder, but it is not all of them, apparently.

your first response to my message is no longer in my inbox, gone?
I still see the two messages you sent and the two replies I sent in my inbox in a single thread.
The identical thread also appears under "messages from members" and "sent".
If you have your eBay messages forwarded to your email, see if the messages appear there.

I noticed the virtually the same thing today. I did a "Contact Buyer" from the Orders page about delivery of a significant sale. No response a day later (which might be due to any number of things) but as in your case, my message does not show up under "sent" (it was in my inbox). Clicking on it showed the normal blue-fill box containing my message and the date it was sent, but no response from the buyer.
EBay, if you want to improve the messaging utility, you need to be sure it works before you make everybody use it.

I will resist the temptation to say something cynical and flippant. But how can a change to something so significant as the meaning of the word "Sent" in a messaging app be changed without explanation? What is the new meaning?

@sann14 wrote:In the last 20 plus messages I have sent recently, including messages left in buyer details (which I always get a response to) I have not received a single response/return message. this has never happened before. and not a single message I sent regarding shipment showed up in the "sent" folder. this has never happened before.
I think this sums it up. One message with no reply, maybe. Twenty?

So what's the new paradigm? How are messages sent from "Contact Buyer" handled? I can learn to live with it if I know what to expect.

With respect to the specific question of sending messages to buyers, I see the same thing. My initial message does not go to the "Sent" folder but it turns up in my Inbox and in my "From members" folder.
I did two test cases in which I messaged eBay members from their Profile page and sent them a parallel gmail message asking that they examine their eBay messages and report back. In both cases the message was received.
The sending behavior was exactly the same as for using the "Contact buyer" link on the Orders page: nothing showed up where it should be. But once I got a response to my initial message the whole "conversation" THEN turned up in my Sent folder (and remained in my Inbox and in my "From members" folder).
I can't believe this is the way eBay intends their message app to work.

It’s a parade of criminally incompetent executives and board members here at eBay. This site has become a dirge and it’s a horrific experience now,
These lifer crooks are millions while costing sellers billions.
I cringe when I make a sale here and I cringe when I have to buy something here.
EBAY IS ROTTEN TO THE CORE!

The issue is that this was a poorly programmed upgrade. I can't imagine that anyone who has actually USED eBay messaging was involved with the program change nor those above the programmer who approved the change. I suspect they all looked at the new page layout with kindergarten balloons on the left and preview on the right and called it good. Then launched it ... and DESPITE the very detailed critique here looping in the eBay Community's Support Team (who pass on our concerns on to the departments that handle this) here we are significantly down the road and they haven't taken it down reverting to the old system so they can FIX it.

@mr_lincoln, From personal experience in similar situations, I have to agree with you. Mike

The old system allowed us to sort "columns" on the message flow. None of that exists. I don't know about other Sellers or Buyers but my messages are not ongoing day after day events. Some last longer but then they end. It is truly a system that does not need much complexity and since it wasn't broken it got fixed ...
