NEW GLITCH. Price changes in "sell similar" mode do not always stay changed.

I am not sure if this is one of the "technical issues" that eBay is apologizing for.  It is new to me.  Most of my listings (in books) are "cloned" from previous listings using the Sell Similar function. This means that I am opening a copy of a previous listing and substituting new pictures and descriptions. (Some things stay the same from listing to listing, particularly postage charges.)

I often have to change the price. I had an incident tonight where I had started with a listing for a book at $9.99.  By means of Sell Similar I listed something else and set the price on that item to $4.99. But when the listing went up, it was $9.99. I had to go in, erase the price, and change it to $4.99 TWICE before it actually showed up that way. I have found that when this happens, changing one digit will not do. You have to swipe and erase the entire price and retype it. Sometimes more than once.

So, whenever you do listings like this, go back and look at the prices to make sure they are correct. I think I undersold something the other day because a changed price did not stick.

Yes, seems to be another software problem ... it is also discussed in this thread:

Hi @darrellschweitzer_pa, thank you for sharing details here. I've passed along the examples I've received from our Community to our tech teams for review. We will work towards getting to the bottom of what may be going on and I will update you if we need anything else in our investigation.

It has been terrible. Been going on for us for over a week now. I had a $200 dress sell for $25, that's how I found out the glitch was happening. Every time you use sell similar, you have to go back to the item and make sure now that the price is actually correct, which right now 99% of the time it isn't. And this person opening this thread is correct, you sometimes have to edit the listing 2 or 3 times before it will finally register and take.

Which goes without saying, this takes a ton of time. I'm accustomed to having to list 30 or 40 items daily to keep up with replacing and gaining on our inventory with daily sales, and this has slowed my speed to a grinding halt.

With every new website change, every update, every new IOS update, every new format change to this page or that, every new anything this website does, it brings more and more of these types of problems with it. They've been growing noticeably in the last few years especially. I used to never want to have to pick up the phone over minor issues, these days I have to call more and more frequently. I'm not even talking about how people complain about ebay getting a bigger piece of the pie and getting more expensive - that's a whole separate issue/group of concerns. I'm simply saying that as of right now, there are so many physically limiting bugs/glitches/issues that directly affect the functionality of the website that it is incredibly concerning, especially to anyone depending on ebay at all for their career.

The troubling thing is this - I built our ebay store, now with an inventory of closing in on 10,000 listings. I built it with an eye for a permanent future, to keep growing and building. These days - I'm still currently OK with things because the money is still good. However - I'm scared out of my boots. Every morning I know my family depends on this as my career, and I just don't trust anymore at all with any confidence that in 5-10 years things will get any better. It's like being part of a bad baseball team that the fanbase is aware that the ownership has lost interest.

I've been slowly but surely beginning the long drawn out process of diverting my listings away from here and onto other websites, and possibly with the idea of opening a physical store, mostly not because money's bad - just because I feel like more than ever I need to start being not so ebay reliant anymore or else one day this is going to bite HARD.

I've hit the same issue as well. Most of my listings are based off of my old listings and then revised so I definitely use the "Sell similar" and it's possible that its related. I've mostly seen this issue when I go in and then try to "revise" my existing listings and then modify the price. I then click submit and then noticed that the price didn't take. I then go back and revise again and again, the price doesn't take. What I've learned is that before hitting "submit" on the revision, I would now check the "preview". The preview will also show me that the price didn't change. What I have to do sometimes to get around the problem is to go and revise something else... like a description (for example, just removing a period and re-adding it) and then add the price change in the same session. After that, I checked the preview listing again and the new price is reflected. This problem also starting happening in Aug 2018 so it seems like a new bug for sure.

Don't know if this will help or not, used to on a similar problem.

After you put in the price, click outside the box........  on anything that isn't clickable.  That used to "set" the info in the box.....so it wouldn't revert....

trinton@ebay posted on 8/28.

It's now 9/25 and nothing has changed.

Typical of eBay.

Let's click the stopwatch on and see how long it takes.

Years, Decades, Eons, maybe?
