Re: Listing keeps saying item specifics are missing

Hi, I've gone to list baby clothing today and on item specifics it doesn't give me the drop down boxes to select/input size, colour, department, season etc etc. The only option I have is make of item. I have rang ebay and was told there have been some issues with it and they will work on it and contact me when it's resolved. Until it's resolved I am unable to list anything which is a huge problem.

I am also having the problem with Christmas Ornaments and Collectibles. Here is a screen dump of my Turbo Lister screen.
Note that most of them don't have item specifics really, and were able to be listed fine the proceeding day.

IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT!   People buy and sell men's jeans using Waist and Inseam.   Now we can search by Inseam only.   This is an error on the part of eBay.  This was working fine.  This needs to be changed to the way that it was.

Honesty is always the best policy and refreshing, especially from eBay, however the whole premise that these required item specifics are a "desire to deliver an enhanced site experience" remains sheer, unadulterated nonsense.

Re: Listing keeps saying item specifics are missing

Brian.T ,

I'm also having an issue with 'excluded locations' now.

I have no exclusions, under shipping preferences or in my policies...  yet 99% of the globe is being excluded under my listings... even if I'm using the global shipping program.

Can you please pass this on to the tech team.

Is there anyway to fix this on my end??  I've tried creating new policies, but the exclusions keep getting added, even tho I have none under shipping preferences.

However, brian@ebay  and @seller_news_team , when using the eBay bulk relisting utility and following the "Next steps for sellers: For now, you should continue providing all of the required, recommended and additional item specifics as needed." instructions in the subject updated announcement, it ONLY works with the "Edit listing individually - grouped by category" option and NOT the "Edit listings in bulk" option, so I may as well just keep relisting manually and individually.

Re: Listing keeps saying item specifics are missing

Hi brian.t@ebay -

Question for you about using eBay's "Create a Listing" - example here is the new category CS&A/Baby/Baby & Toddler Clothing/Dresses:

This is my test listing - after filling out Title, etc. at the top of the form, why is Brand the only IS option provided? If I have to add my own custom IS for Size (or any of the many other IS that used to be offered in pulldown menus), is there any assurance that it will ever be categorized correctly in search?

Screen Shot 2019-10-17 at 2.48.31 PM.png

And as of this moment, Search is still screwed up. As people have already said, there's now often no option for buyers to drill down by size in the sidebar. Sometimes you can - occasionally under CS&A/Baby, there is a size option, but if you go down one more level to CS&A/Baby/Baby & Toddler Clothing, the size option disappears.

And if there IS that possibility to search by size, still the only size choice given is Unspecified. Like a particular baby dress brand gets 1000 results, and while there is a drill-down for size, the only one shown, Unspecified, filters to about 400 items. This is even though my item specifics in active listings look right and they don't return error flags when I try to Bulk Edit. So old listings are hard to find in search, and new listings don't have the option to put in size as an IS, which means they will be hard to find in search.

Re: Listing keeps saying item specifics are missing

Hi brian.t@ebay -

I have a question about the Create a Listing form.

I just started to list an item under a newly created category: CS&A/Baby/Baby & Toddler Clothing/Dresses. The only pull-down menu option under item specifics is Brand. Nothing whatsoever for size. To include that (as well as material or anything else), I would have to create a custom IS. Is there any assurance that a custom-created IS for size would ever be mapped correctly to eBay's search?

Also, as of this moment, even when most active listings in the new Baby Clothing categories look to have the correct sizes listed in their item specifics, when searching the only option when drilling down for size is "Unspecified" - no actual clothing sizes?

This is if size is even an option to drill down by - as mentioned by others, half the time it is still not given as an option at all. BUT - if it does happen to show up as a search choice, it isn't consistent. If it appears in CS&A/Baby, it disappears if you click down into CS&A/Baby/Baby & Toddler Clothing.

Sorry for the double post! The first one got flagged as Spam so I created a new one with no photo uploaded in case that was the problem. 🙂

Re: Listing keeps saying item specifics are missing

I have had the same problem for the last 2 days trying to relist sports related items where it's saying I need to list the "sport", yet the "sport" is clearly shown in the category.  There are are a couple other items it's saying that needs to be included, which they already are.

I called the help line last night and what a waste of time that was!!!!!  The person barely spoke English, had absolutely NO idea what I was talking about, even though I tried to talk him thru replicating what the problem was.  He then told me that he would put a ticket in for the error which I then responded, that I KNOW I am not the only one with this problem as they have thousands of sellers who relist on a daily basis, and they must be having the same problem.

I was then told that I would receive a phone call within the hour from someone regarding this issue...........but NOOOOOO phone call.

While I understand problems are going to occur, ebay needs to be proactive in getting them resolved quickly AND to educate their customer service team about the problems, rather than have them act ignorant with no knowledge of such a problem. Furthermore, customer service needs to fully understand English so that we can properly communicate.

Re: Listing keeps saying item specifics are missing

As of this morning (Friday, Oct 18, 8:25 AM Eastern), for listings I have not not yet had time to manually edit and update, the value in the Size field (in the Required Item Specifics) for my Clothing, Shoes & Accessories items still remains blank/empty. Data has not been mapped/transferred/populated from old fields.

Re: Listing keeps saying item specifics are missing

Based on eBay's update that they were still working on mapping the original size attributes up until yesterday I decided to wait on manually updating the listings.  However, it is still an issue this morning and my sales are plummeting.  I then frantically tried to use the Optiseller tool as recommended to fix the item specifics however it appears that there is nothing of value in the product based on the subscription that eBay is paying for until Dec 31. To use any tools in Optiseller that would help me in this situation, I would need to pay for additional services.

Am I missing something?
