JS:Redirector-BKD

Starting today...everytime I sign into eBay...my virus protection (Avast) keeps going off stating it blocked a virus. It also states its coming from ebay. I can go everywhere else on the internet with no problem. It says it's a JS:Redirector-BKD(TRO). I scanned my computer with two different VIRUS programs and Malwarebytes and it found nothing in my computer.

Re: JS:Redirector-BKD

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!! It was still doing it today. I noticed it only did it when I signed into my account. I deleted my BOOKMARK that I signed in with. Then went to search and typed "SIGN INTO EBAY". I clicked on the new link...works perfect! I bookmarked the new link and NO MORE PROBLEM!

Re: JS:Redirector-BKD

Yes! deleting my Ebay bookmark and add a new worked with my firefox.

No more pop up from Avast.

Thank you mpgsales for the info.

Re: JS:Redirector-BKD

I am only responding so ebay is getting as much info as possible because it doesn't seem like a "one size fits all" problem and because I'm a bit of a computer geek. Anyway, I have never received the threat when I sign into my account. It seems to happen when I open a second ebay tab or when I open my browser and am already signed into ebay. I have often closed all ebay tabs, closed my browser, rebooted, and opened ebay through a clean link only to have it happen again.

Hi everyone, it looks like some solutions were provided in this thread that appear to resolve the issue with Avast. Has anyone tried these troubleshooting steps and still running into the problem?

Re: JS:Redirector-BKD

This is happening to me now when I try to revise an item and get forwarded to the log in page. Happens with both computers, using firefox & avast. I deleted my bookmark and went in manually with the same result. Am I to just ignore it and put in my password hoping it doesn't get stolen?

Re: JS:Redirector-BKD

Same here except it was AVG that caught it. Called Ebay, they mumbled something about it being on my computer even though it only happens when accessing ebay. My computer scanned clean with two different programs. They guy left me on hold for an hour at which time, I just hung up. Nice way to support people, Ebay.

Re: JS:Redirector-BKD

I am getting the same thing here today when trying to log into Ebay with firefox and Avast and WIN7. Deleted the Firefox history to no avail. If I try logging in with Chrome I get no flag, Logged in with Internet Exploder ..No flag

Re: JS:Redirector-BKD

I've been getting the same trojan message on Avast. This has been going on for 3 days now. It's very annoying.

I've got that message a couple times  today and I wasn't even on the Ebay web site when I got it, but I was earlier.

The couple times I've got it, I just opened my browser to my home page, nothing to do with Ebay, and got the pop up message from Avast.

I haven't got the message while on Ebays web site though.

Have a great day

Anonymous

These redirect scripts are typically hosted on malicious or compromised websites.

The unsolicited website the user is redirected to may have any or all of the following characteristics:

  • Pornographic
  • Hosts additional malware to be downloaded onto the visitor's computer
  • Steals data from the user
  • Use the augmented traffic to perpetrate fraud

The redirect scripts are usually written in JavaScript. Redirects that operate by exploiting vulnerabilities in the visitor's web browser or computer may also be considered exploits.

For a representative example of Trojan:JS/Redirector variants, see:

I did not get this, But I do use a app on firefox called Skip Redirect, Maybe it will help you....

It is only happening when I log into eBay, no where else for me. I thought it was bad bookmark like last year but I have tried every thing.

The topic is in selling, that was inadvertantly marked as solved....it is still a problem.

Re: JS:Redirector >June 5, 2018 >eBay

Just happened yesterday (June 5, 2018) for the first time. Avast blocked access to eBay due to JS:Redirector, but Avast scan didn’t catch it and continues to state "You're Protected".  eBay had an entire six-months to correct the problem if this Trojan first appeared in Nov 2017. Second: Why didn’t eBay notify The eBay Community?
