Google method recovering lost photos

Simple way to explain is #1 copy and paste this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/(and add your item # here)
#2 SEARCH in google, your listing should come up,
#3 look for little black arrow in search result, click on that
#4 then you see cache and click on that,
i clicked on photos then just dragged each one and renamed 1,2,3etc.) you can back button when your done and just replace the old item # and search again. you can also just drag the photo to listing box if you pull up separate windows.
Probably did the hard way but worked for me.

This is actually a do-it-yourself version of find/replace photos for sellers who have not saved their photos and have no backups.  Instead of waiting to see whether ebay will fix the problem, sellers can proactively replace them, but must hurry to do so before google caches update.

  1. First, scan your listings here:
    http://www.isdntek.com/ebaytools/BulkPhotoScanner.htm
  2. Use the "Fast Scan" option when it appears.
  3. When the scan completes, generate the "CSV Photo Count" report below the scan grid, which will list your items in least-number-of-photos order.

Now that you have a list of items with zero  or one  photo (those that are likely missing photos), you can see if Google has those images cached.

  1. Paste the short eBay URL into Google search.
    It is formatted like:
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/000000000000
  2. Look for the small green down arrow on the google results page that indicates there is a cached version of the listing.
  3. Open the cached listing and copy the photos from the largest view.

Getting those photos back into your listings is a multi-step process, which is why some have suggested opening and working in several windows at once.

  1. Copy each photo from eBay to a desktop folder.
  2. Rename each before you get the next (important because eBay photos all have the same name).
  3. Copy from the desktop folder back to the open listing revision.

thanks,it's done,it worked fast with 3 windows dragging and dropping, revising from the tool, about 200 listings were really needed, maybe 10 had no cache to draw from.it would have been at least weeks to get those with a camera.

It is unfortunate the eBay's BLUNDER has created such a need and unfortunately with 2,000+ listing and over 1,300 inventory items; this work around will take 100s of hours.

Thank you eBay for putting that workload on my lap.

Plus I don't think that eBay has ever actually aknowledge this as their blunder.  I've called in half a dozen times and each time I get somebody that is surprised to hear of the problem.

Personally, I wouldn't bother calling until tomorrow (Monday). From my personal experience, the Customer Support people that work weekends, don't have much information and also not many resources to get information.
I have quit calling ECS on the weekends all together.
