Ebay sent out a recent memo to me and possible other sellers that there is an issue with old sold listing showing up with current dates as far as 10-12 months ago. I have been one of those victims of Ebay. Many of my sold postings have been showing up for as much as 12 months now. I sell high ticket and high demand collectible products. Seller and buyers are messaging me and or calling my business daily regarding the pricing. Products that I sold over 6+ months ago. Example 1996/97 Topps Finest Baskeball Hobby box Series 1 and 2 lot. I sold for $2499.98 in Jan 2020; these boxes are now selling for $10,000 or more currently. Well on Feb 26, 2021 my old sold listing show up as sold on this date. Guess what I get Ebay messages, message on facebook, emails , and phone calls from buyer trying to buy more of these items from. This has tied up my time fielding all these phone calls and emails. I contacted Ebay CS and an CS U.S. rep and was told this issue was resolved over a week ago. Absolutely not! I just got contacted on a listing relisting on March 07. 2021 Reguarding Bowman's best 1996/97 Basketball box.
About a year ago I brought up this issue with Ebay CS and it was dismissed as an isolated incident and there was something wrong with my listing account. I was even told that I did something wrong. This was brought up a couple other times and I was promise Tech would look in on this and this would be taken care of. Now about a year later the problem still persist. Dozens of hours of personal time wasted and buyer and sellers thinking I am shilling my auctions to lower or inflate prices. Yet Ebay continues to hide this major issue. I personally have way undersold items because I am relying on Ebay data to be correct and accurate.
The outcome here is Ebay has refused to fix or really address this major problem. They have ignored my concerns and CS calls for about a year. We are treading in dangerous waters now costing buyers and seller to overpay and/or undersell products at the wrong price. This is causing a sense of shill bidding because of this glitch. Sellers are under pricing items that are in demand because we see a posting with a recent price that was sold as much as a year ago. This also goes for products that have recently dropped in price but old postings at higher prices. Buyers end up overpaying for products based on Ebays selling history. This is flat out wrong.
Not a single person at Ebay has contacted me over the last couple of months of my concerns. This business practice is highly unethical and not assuring that you even plan to fix this issue or how you plan to address this with sellers and buyers. We are talking about hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars of products not being represented properly because of Ebay "glitch" that you refuse to address properly.
Here is another "glitch" that I have brought up that relates to this issue. Ebay claims it as human error again on my part. I have been having issues with sold out items being relisting as active in-stock items. I end up finding out that this has been happening also for the last year or so. My old listing as much lower prices have pop up and purchased. At the beginning I accommodated the sales thinking I made the mistake. Far from the truth; I think Ebay has another glitch in their system causing this issue. But as usual Ebay denies resposibility. I have been a seller since 1996 and only recently over the last 12 months I have encountered this issue. This issue will be brought up in detail in another posting soon. Regards unhappy camper!
