Completed & Sold Search Not Working Right Completed Listings Checked Automatically When Sold Checked

For days now when I do a search for Sold Listings by checking the box in left hand column it now automatically clicks the Completed Listings also? I can then go back and remove the check for Completed Listings, it does refresh but then it only shows a small fraction of the Sold Listings and even though the Sort is Time: Newly Listed as you go down the page you have a sold item May-6 08:23 then next sold item is May-5 20:45 then next sold item is May-6 05:42 and so on (times are not in order) and about 75% of the sales are not even there. We do a search each day to see sold prices of similar items we are going to list. Right now this search is of little help since most of it is not even there. It would appear to be some kind of glitch in the Search engine but not finding much on it anywhere here in the boards. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Completed & Sold Search Not Working Right Completed Listings Checked Automatically When Sold

Thanks for your post. Unfortunately, I cannot access any completed or sold listings no matter what I do on my iPhone. I’ve tried all the workarounds. Neither Safari, FireFox nor Chrome changes anything.

I CAN get to the completed/sold listings on my IPad Pro and on my PC.  As you say, both completed and sold come up at the same time which is no big deal.  I find it very inconvenient that the status of “sold” reverts back to current listings on every search though. This really slows me down but at least it works while I’m at my shop or at home. Of course, carrying my big IPad while out buying items for sale is out of the question for me especially since the iPad lacks internet without a hot spot. It’s cumbersome and too obvious as well.

I did get a canned reply from eBay to my Messenger text, basically placating me. They said they’d report it to the technical team.  Having gone this route before with another issue, it is pretty much useless.

I’ve tried rebooting my phone, done changes to cookies, etc. Short of a complete wipe, I’ve really tried. No dice. Thanks for staying with the issue and for trying to help!

Thanks again but I contacted support at FireFox and this add-on isn’t available for iPhone IOS. If you know where I can get it for iPhone, please let me know and I’ll try it immediately.  Cheers!

I never even thought about iOS - I use a Windows phone (that's mostly useless and app barren) and deal only in desktop issues using Firefox (and old versions of Firefox at that.)

What happens if you change a search URL in the browser (sch to dsc in the URL) as I outlined? You should be able to do that, just a question of what results from it.

Just to clarify: I see both the sold and completed checkboxes checked when I check the sold checkbox, but the search results I get are only sold listings - not a composite of sold and completed listings. If I check only the completed checkbox I get only completed listings. Everything is as it should be except that the completed box on the lest is checked now when I look at solds. I'm not sure if that's what you others are seeing, or if you are getting an actual mishmash of solds and completeds.

Re: Completed & Sold Search Not Working Right Completed Listings Checked Automatically When Sold

Thanks again but on my iPhone I can’t even reach “sold” listings.  When I attempt to go to the Classic Site, it dumps me back to current listings with no menu to filter results. That particular menu has completely disappeared.   There is no longer a way to get to sold OR completed listings. Period. Very frustrating. If you find out anything, please post and thanks.

Here is a screen shot of the results of a random search for “vintage bandana.”  This is after tapping Classic Site at the bottom of the page. Definitely not the classic in-browser view, just mobile view of current listings. There is no drop down menu to filter results to show sold listings. Only the sort menu is available with current listing sort functions such as highest, lowest, etc. No sold or completed options. Nada.

If you know anything about this, I’d appreciate your help. I’ve been an eBayer since 1998 and have never encountered anything quite like this. (Another thing, when I look at my own profile it shows my being a member since 1998. But sometimes when I just click my username it gives different dates and they change! Weird, but it isn’t really important.

Many thanks again and good luck with your listings.

Re: Completed & Sold Search Not Working Right Completed Listings Checked Automatically When Sold

I've seen recent complaints about "can no longer get to classic site" and search here on the boards for iOS now that you mention it. Problems with the app for iOS too. Have no words of wisdom as I don't do Apple. eBay is messing with search on all platforms apparently. (You might want to check the https://community.ebay.com/t5/Mobile-App-iOS/bd-p/iosapp board)

I don't like what they did with search for the desktop, but my sch->dsc + Redirector workaround is doing the trick for me for the moment (to give me the old search view/functionality), and I've been updating my JS and CSS tweaks to mitigate some of the visual damage of the new layout - getting rid of the "recently viewed"and "browse related" sidebars that were disappeared before but popped back in when eBay changed the underlying code, getting rid of the "feedback thing on the lower right, unwrapping the page in FF3.6.24, etc. Still have to rework the detailed layout of the new view like I had done with the old (highlighting some elements, changing font sizes, getting rid of whitespace, moving things around to conserve vertical real estate to get 6 or more results per screen in full screen mode on my monitor, etc depending on thumbnail size, but that can wait.

Regardless of appearances, in either view, I get the same search results, and they look correct in Firefox in Windows XP.

I haven't bothered to check search on my phone because it's pointless. I use Opera Mini (hate MS Edge), and although the desktop site works about 97% in that browser (mostly editing things like listing descriptions fail), eBay decided a year or more ago that my phone and that browser are an unsupported device when it comes to viewing the listings. Full desktop search works fine, just can't tap search result and view the listings (I can copy the item number from a search result to the clipboard, open a new tab, type in "https:/www.ebay.co/itm/" and paste the item number on the end to see a desktop view of the listing but that just ain't happening except in an emergency. I shop at Amazon now if away from the desktop. (Good job eBay!)

Re: Completed & Sold Search Not Working Right Completed Listings Checked Automatically When Sold

As of today finally, everything appears to be working right again when doing our sold seearches. As of this moment all is working the same as it did before we started having problems about 3 weeks ago. Will be back here if this changes again. Thanks to all who tried to help. It appears it was all a eBay glitch and we hope this does not happen again.

Re: Completed & Sold Search Not Working Right Completed Listings Checked Automatically When Sold

Some things may be working; but the filter for "listings started within 24 hours" is NOT WORKING.

As mentioned several days ago, a "category" search can be limited to within 24 hours; but searching within that category for a specific term reverts to all listings, regardless of when started.

Ebay's changes to search functions have resulted in deleting filters such as this when doing additional searches.

I do not expect that ebay will bother to fix this.

As with previous changes to search functions, ebay's attitude is that if users don't like it......too bad.

If an ebay employee thinks that is not the official ebay attitude, then FIX THIS PROBLEM.

I dare you.

Re: Completed & Sold Search Not Working Right Completed Listings Checked Automatically When Sold

Appears I spoke too quick. Upon checking today I find Completed Search does show all (both the sold & unsold listings) but when only Sold is checked about 2/3 of the sold sales are just missing (comparing it to the Completed list that appears complete). This is with Google. When I use Firefox the Completed listings are being checked automatically again (stopped for about 24 hours) when I check the Sold box and when you compare Google search with Firefox they do not match (some of what shows up with Google is missing with Firefox and some of what shows up with Firefox is missing with Google???). What a mess. Please eBay fix this. It is effecting both buyers and sellers. If site searches are not going to work buyers and sellers will start looking for other sites to work from.

Re: Completed & Sold Search Not Working Right Completed Listings Checked Automatically When Sold

This has been happening to me with my Android phone. The only way I could search sold items is on my computer. When I am out searching for things to buy and list on eBay I use my phone I am unable to view the classic site which enables me to see sold items. I have contacted eBay several times and have expressed my concerns. I am really **bleep** I mean really **bleep** because I cannot search sold f items when I'm out and about. Their search engine Their search engine has gone from a Mercedes to a Volkswagen. I can't believe their eyes department and their technicians cannot fix this. What the hell is going on!!!

Re: Completed & Sold Search Not Working Right Completed Listings Checked Automatically When Sold

Nope, still nothing. I SOMETIMES get results to populate in Chrome, but Firefox is a no. The sch/dsc swap is ok in a pinch, but really, screw that. Ebay needs to just go ahead & close it's doors. They truly are the worst of the worst.
