Cannot use the word seahorse in listing for jewelry

Hello, we have twice tried to use the word seahorse when listing a pair of vintage earrings for sale. We have listed other seahorse jewelry in the past, but now we get an error message that prevents saving the listing because real seahorses cannot be sold on eBay. Is there a way to have the error programming recognize the category of jewelry to prevent the error?  These are made of Lucite, they aren't dead seahorses that have been preserved. We see other jewelry listings with this word so aren't sure why we are getting the error. It has happened just now (the evening of 7/16/18,) and a month ago when we first listed them. Thank you from VintageChicandMerry.

No, I don't think eBay could make that exception because when I viewed the category, I saw what looked like encased and preserved seahorses.

I know when horn and bone were a big issue, sellers solved the problem by adding "bovine" to their titles to indicate their jewelry and knives were not made from endangered species.

Are you adding Lucite to your titles? Of course, Lucite is a common encasement and might not work. I am also seeing the two-word "Sea Horse" appear in the "Seahorse" search. Other added descriptors like carved, sculted, formed, blown, extruded, molded, artifical, glass, clear, metal, plastic, etc, may assuage the bots.

The bots are insidious.  Try sea creature.

Great Moms turn them off first.

Re: Cannot use the word seahorse in listing for jewelry

In cases like this you should be able to save the listing as a draft. Then call Ebay support and have a rep review. The support rep should be able to over ride and over rule the bot and send the listing live once you have demonstrated the item is not made from banded or inappropriate material.

Re: Cannot use the word seahorse in listing for jewelry

I sell collector's plates and have trouble with a listing that uses the term Native American.

I found a solution that works for me.  I create the listing and post it without the term Native American.  I then go back and edit the listing to add the term Native American and it works.

I hope that this might help you.

Thank you, we did that the first time around, and that worked, but really prefer seahorse. We did find a solution based on advice from another answer here though, so appreciate the community!

Thank you! We used the word faux in front of seahorse and that was accepted.

Thank you for your idea. We got past it this time using the word faux in front of seahorse, but will keep your advice in mind for the future.

Thank you- we noticed that too with Native American! It didn't work with seahorse, but we got past it today by putting the word faux in front of it. Whew!
