Auction ending before scheduled end time, bids not accepted

2 bids placed on different items in the last 20 minutes with under 10 seconds to go before scheduled auction end time.

1st Bid placed at 18.30pm with 6 seconds left, not accepted & message flashed up ' There was something wrong with this bid', tried to bid again but couldn't.

2nd bid placed at 18.55pm with 10 seconds left, again not accepted & message appeared 'Auction has ended' with at least 6 seconds left.

A bid has been placed on another auction to see if I've been restricted, my bid has been accepted.

Anyone got any ideas why this may be happening or is any other bidder experiencing this?

As a long standing user with 20+ years on eBay, I've never encountered this.

If I were the Sellers, I'd be annoyed with the low bids & final prices for both items & as I've multiple auctions ending today, I'm wondering if any last second bids will go through & a little concerned too.

Auction ending before scheduled end time, bids not accepted

The auction countdown you see is not coming from eBay, it is being calculated by your computer based on your computer's time setting. If your time is wrong, your countdown will be wrong.

If your auction countdown is not behaving correctly, check to make sure your computer's time and time zone are set correctly, and the date and time are synchronized with an internet time server such as time.windows.com or time.gov.

Check your computer's time here:

https://time.is/

If your computer's clock is ahead or behind by a minute, you will have problems bidding in the last minute of an auction. Either your computer will think the auction is over when it is not and prevent you from bidding, or you will think you have time left to bid when the auction has actually ended. Neither situation helps you. So it is best to make sure your computer's clock is synchronized.

Auction ending before scheduled end time, bids not accepted

Hi,

Never thought to check that but you are correct, my PC clock is out by 5 seconds, probably the battery, I'll revert to the phone.

All the same, both items I lost out on are in the collectors bracket & both achieved low bids & final prices with no bids coming in as the auctions ended.

Odd too how I made bids earlier today with 5 seconds to run without issue.

Technology, a fickle thing.

Many thanks for your help, have a peaceful evening.
