I logged back into eBay after a long hiatus to start selling again. However, eBay insists that I must link my bank account. I login to my bank account from eBay's website. Everything confirms, but then the page asks me to confirm my bank details. Everything is correct so I hit CONTINUE and I get this error message:
"Something isn't right. Please double-check the info on this page."
I contacted eBay support and the rep says that I need to register for a seller account. (What???) I am already registered and have been for years. They clearly do not understand the problem even after trying to explain it multiple times. The rep asks for a screenshot and then finally realizes they have no idea what they are doing, and they need to escalate. I am informed that it will take 3 days for them to try to fix it, but after those 3 days they will not contact me or notify me. I will just need to try again and figure it out on my own and call them back if the issue still persists. (Not looking forward to trying to explain the issue AGAIN to someone who has NO CLUE).
I am pretty amazed that the process for this seems to be so complicated and that the customer service is so bad. I wanted to sell on this platform, and I hope I still can, but I am nervous after trying to find the solution to this problem that there seems to be no answers and a "wait and see" attitude from customer service.
Has anyone else had any similar issues with the website or with customer service? I'm hoping it's just me and that someone at eBay "might" fix the problem we are having but I am open to any advice.

Usual problem with bank account is that it isn't a checking account (which it has to be) or the name differs from the ebay registration name.........i.e John Jones......John R Jones........ If it's the name, change the ebay name rather than trying fool with changing bank name.......

First, don't use Customer Service; they are usually incorrect.
2nd; when you set up the account and had an error, there is usually an area shown that has a problem
3rd; selling accounts usually are not immediate as the bank has to be verified. Sometimes they want to do 2 micro deposits and then have you verify (takes a couple days to receive).
4th- the reason it states you need a 'seller account' is from all of the above not being done yet (bank account).
5th- know that new sellers (new to selling in past 90 days, doesn't matter how long you've been here prior to that) will have a limit on amount of items you can list and can have funds held for up to 30 days until you've 'proven' yourself.

Thanks for your reply!
I am stuck at the part where I verify my bank account. If you login to your bank account using your bank credentials, it is supposed to automatically verify. I have no problems with that part. It logs in just fine. The issue is at the very next screen. After I login, it asks me to verify the details of my bank. It says my bank account number, and routing number on the screen which it got automatically when I logged in using my bank credentials.
The problem is that I click CONTINUE on the page to verify the bank details and THAT is where I get the error message.
I have no problem with probationary periods or whatever I need to do to start selling. My problem is that I cannot start selling because of the error. And when I ask for help, I am told "check back in 3 days".

The only thing I can think of is there might be difference in your name matching your bank account to what ebay has on file. Everything has to match exactly, if you have a middle initial if your are a jr or the 3rd. Please go back and check everything from the name and routing number to make sure there is no discrepancy in anything. Are you adding a debit or CC that ties into your bank,, is the expiration date ok?

This is pretty helpful. It is a corporate account, so the name on the account is the business name. I will see what I can do in my settings to change my username maybe? I really don't understand why all of that stuff should matter if I provided my BANK LOGIN DETAILS to verify though.

I am definitely going to go through my profile and make sure my business name is correct, I appreciate your help!

I can get a check from ANY corporation and now I have the Routing and Acct number. Does NOT mean it's my account.
Accounts have to match the ebay name exactly for IRS, Anti Money Laundering and many other 'reasons'.
Plus, a 1099 gets issued for sales over $600 for 2022, and it has to go to the 'matching' name on the account.

agreed, thats what happened to me. Once I figured that out I was good to go.

Appreciate this. I checked, and my business name DOES match so that is not the issue.
I understand that you can get a check from any corporation. However I LOGGED IN using my BANK CREDENTIALS. That means I provided my login and password for my BANK ACCOUNT WEBSITE. That is not just a check with a routing number on it. That is a secure username and password provided by my bank.

The name on the checking and your real name (not ebay sign on name- ie. bigpawnchicago which can NOT be used to sign up on ebay originally) is the same?

The name on my bank account and the name on my profile are the same, however I noticed when trying again to link my bank account that the name eBay is using is NOT the name on my profile, it is slightly different. I am unable to change the name that eBay is using because that field is pre-populated. EBay is using the name that was in my profile previously and not what is in there now (my actual business name).
I have contacted customer support again and they opened a ticket, but I am pretty frustrated that this seems to be so complicated when it shouldn't be.

Marking this is as the solution because even though my eBay name and business name DO match on my profile, they did not used to match and eBay is using the old name. Hopefully they will fix the problem but it has been a frustrating experience so far.

is it solved?

Hi @bigpawnchicago I got the same issue like you. I got stuck at the adding account page. It still shows the red error banner "Something isn't right. Please double-check the info on this page.".
Do you have any solution for this ?
