I have made a purchase to acquire a backhoe for approximately 35,000 dollars. I realize there are many scams out there and I am trying to protect funding while making the purchase. I have read the E Bay guarantees however I am not convinced they are complete. Ebay says they guarantee the amt if funds are wired to ebay acct. I also read where others have purchased their items, sent funds through ebay and have not received their items or refunded their monies. Does anyone know how I can pay a co or someone to verify the backhoe is at that location. They are located in Ocala Florida. The seller shows they have been on ebay for several years however when I look at their sales it looks like misc dollar items.I saw on the forum where someone else had purchased from a like co. and not received their product and it might be the same co. It seems difficult to talk with someone in ebay to verify the co.is legit. Can anyone give me their advice as to how to confirm the co. is actually at the location they describe on address ? Thank You

Useful. Protection is there I guess. But I am looking at if something goes wrong...how long before the buyer gets that $35,000. returned...I hate to have $35,000. in limbo land for weeks or a month.
Seller hasn't sold anything. Curious...then there would be how many weeks before seller receives funds.
Plus seller has to pay for this sale fee out of his pocket before receiving any funds.

Hmmm....Florida....I go there all the time.
The trees in the photos do not look like Florida. That's not Florida.

I have not read all the answers on this thread. I would not be buying a piece of equipment like that online.
After thoroughly checking out and testing the unit, I would be completing the transaction at my bank where a bill of sale would be notorized and the title signing would take place and then the money transfer to the seller.

Good point... There's also an ARCO gas station in the background on one photo, the closest ARCO station to Ocala is in Levy County, a fair distance away. The few ARCO stations in the state are mostly well North of there, and in the pan handle.

No palm trees....and the trees in the photos have no "moss" hanging down on the branches...normal in Florida or in the south.

As @house*of*paws mentioned, an eBay team member is aware.
Can you wait until Monday before you do anything? If so, please check back then.
Thanks.

Hmmm.
This picture is from the ebay listing:
Does this look like the same building (located in Wylie, TX)?

It's definitely the same style and color, but doesn't appear as tall - that's not to say it it isn't another building on the same property...

In pulling up photos of the equipment rental companies in and around Ocala, I'm not finding any that match.

In looking closely at a couple of those photos, is that snow on the hills in the background?

I can't tell, which photos are you seeing that in?

I can't tell if this is solid gray sky or solid gray earth.
Heavy gray background at right edge over car and bldg
Heavy gray to left edge of arm

Interesting, isn't it, the way countless folks here are floundering around trying to find the correct listing, figure out whether it's actually in Florida, making sure that it's actually listed on eBay, etc, etc, etc, while the OP remains strangely silent?

Isn't it funny that I was just about to type nearly the same words.
Why do we feel so obligated to assist a buyer willing to throw that kind of cash around so willy-nilly? It's his money, after all...
