Did you mean:

eBay not using PayPal anymore?

I got a message from eBay saying to update my account details.

"It’s now simpler to get paid on eBay

Getting paid has changed: Fees and expenses will be deducted before you get paid out and the remainder of your earnings will go directly to your bank account, not your PayPal account. Get set up in a few easy steps."

I primarily just tend to leave all the money I receive in my PayPal, so I wanted to ask for clarification: does this mean sellers can no longer use PayPal as a means of payment? We have to store the money in a bank account now?

I also saw something saying eBay raised their fees. Is that also true?

Thanks for clarifying.

Re: eBay not using PayPal anymore?

Shipping will take longer because I'm not shipping anything to anyone until i receive the payment, which will take days rather  than instantly in paypal.  Customers will be not happy.

Re: eBay not using PayPal anymore?

eBay needs to stop being greedy and taking the **bleep**, they already charge sellers 10% on their postage costs, which is nothing to do with them.

They claim they are improving the buyers experience and moving away from PayPal will bring more customers to eBay... They are wrong, it will drive sellers away!

PayPal is trusted and that means a lot. I will not trust any foreign payment company.

Re: eBay not using PayPal anymore?

Ebay does not let me to delete my listings. This is very hostile!!!

They removed the action to delete the listing and replaced it with: "Recommended item specifics missing 12 item specifics"

What does this even mean? Recommended item? specifics missing 12 item specifics?

Then: "
The item cannot be listed or modified. The title and/or description may contain improper words, or the listing or seller may be in violation of eBay policy.
Edit listing

"

Then:

"It looks like there's a problem with this listing.

Your ability to list new items, relist, and revise listings has been suspended, effective immediately. To resume managing your listings, please sign up now for eBay to manage your payments at ebay.com/startpayments.{e72863-1134538x}

"

This is simply unbelievable and hostile! Been here a decade or two and Ebay keeps doing things the extreme way!

When I try to post this, I get this error:

Correct the highlighted errors and try again.

@peter....Unbelievable and hostile & totally unrelated to this discussion, which is about eBay finishing its relationship with PayPal...

Re: eBay not using PayPal anymore?

@warf135I am trying to follow the instructions to fix whatever I need to fix so that I get back all my typical actions I used to see, including deleting the listing. It suggests that it is not possible unless I update my payment. I assume that means to terminate my relationship with paypal which this thread id about.

@peter....

You still should be able to END your listings.  We have never had an option to Delete our listings.  Maybe you are just looking for the wrong word.  Or maybe you are looking in the wrong place.  If you are clicking into your listings and expecting to see the option on the upper left side of the listing where it allows you to choose to revise or sell similar along with a couple other options, the closing option hasn't been there for quite a few years.

You need to go to the Seller Hub, Active Listings and then use the drop down menu on the left side of your screen beside each listing.  There will be an option to End Listing.

I hope this helps.

@peter....

If you have passed the date in which Ebay informed you of in emails that you would be moving to MP, then you have already terminated your relationship with PayPal.  But you likely did not register for MP by giving them you bank routing number, checking account number and the last 4 digits of your SSN.

A problem you will likely have soon is anyone purchases any of your items, the money will go into your MP account, however it can't transfer out to you until you complete the registration.

Good Luck.

Re: eBay not using PayPal anymore?

Thanks for your help @warf135 @mam98031 this is so confusing. The actions are gone I used to see, OK, I get it, delete was never there, but  I got 3 different errors by simply following what ebay is telling to do.

These errors are unnecessary, confusing, and disrespectful to me. Ebay changed the payment policy again, 1st it forced us to PayPal, yes I do remember that, now they forced us out of PayPal quite disrespectful way again as I tried to demonstrate here.

Thanks, I was able to delete the  one listings. Others are still in error, there is nothing I can do about these errors as ebay doesn't provide with a path forward until I give them access to my bank account.

I understand you are upset.  But they told you about this, what would happen if you don't register for MP.  So no you are upset that they did what they told you they would do?

But Like I said in my previous post, if you don't want to register for MP, that is fine, but you then should  end ALL your listings.  If you don't and if you get a sale after your listings are changed to MP, that money is going to go into your MP account and you can not get that money unless you complete your registration.

So make sure you decide what you want to do BEFORE the deadline they gave you in that email they sent you.

If your major concern is attaching your checking account, what I've recommended to many and have done myself, is set up a separate checking account.  I use mine to drop the funds in from my online sales for Ebay and the other sites I sell on.  It keeps things cleaner and bookkeeping easier.  There are lots of banks out there that offer Free checking accounts.

Re: eBay not using PayPal anymore?

The problem I have with eBay changing to so-called Managed Payments is that the registration form asks for very confidential information like social insurance number, driver's license number etc., and the worst of all my bank access number and password.

I think eBay means to ask for the bank transit number, internet ID number and my account number NOT my bank access number and password.  Once I enter those two numbers onto the eBay registration form,  ANYONE CAN GO INTO MY BANK ACCOUNT AND TAKE MONEY OUT.  I can't imagine anyone filling in the form this way.  I see that there is another post called "Ebay has your bank account information and so does the hackers".  I think that is true and I'm going to read that next.

I've been with eBay since it started and I DO NOT WANT TO LOSE MY STORE AND MY FEEDBACKS but I am definitely NOT going to put in the two numbers that definitely allow anyone to go into my bank account.

Can anyone comment please?

Re: eBay not using PayPal anymore?

All they asked me for was the routing # and checking account #. They didn't ask for my driver's license either. Something fishy going on there. Call ebay, I would not give out any password.

@tigergirl1

Some things have changed on the registration process for MP since I went into it.  But when you start the process, they as for your bank routing number, checking account number and the last 4 digits of your SSN [not the entire SSN].

Now if there were to be some problems with the information provided initially, they will come back to you saying they need additional information.  That could be in the form of asking you for a Driver's license and/or maybe additional info on your banking information.

That screen that asks for more banking information does ask you to give them your password to your bank account online, HOWEVER if you drop to the bottom of that screen there is an option.  You can enter your bank there and proceed with verifying it.

Now just in case you have already given them the password, the simplest thing to do to put your mind at ease is to go to your bank's website and CHANGE your password.  Then you are secure again and you will feel much better.
