Did you mean:

eBay bank account message

So, eBay sent an email:  "We charged your bank account ending in xxxx for $116.48. The reason for this charge was because you didn’t have enough available funds to pay what you owed for previous transactions." ...What the heck eBay!? My PayPal and my bank account have plenty of funds so why did I get this message? Anyone else? Who do I contact?

Re: eBay bank account message

Just chatted with eBay and got the answer. Since I just switched to eBay "managed funds" which eliminates PayPal, and my fees were in process, that's why I got the email. For now on eBay will take their fees out and then send the money I make from sales to my bank account. Easy.

Re: eBay bank account message

They don't charge to paypal any more....... and your processing/pending funds weren't enough to cover the $118.....so they charged your bank account.  For information, previously, if you didn't have enough in paypal they would charge your bank account or your credit card.

You are in Managed Payments. Managed payments takes funds from two places - available funds and your bank account.

The reason they did not take funds from PayPal is because they do not do that. not

The reason they took it from your bank account is because that is what they do if you do not have enough available funds.

The reason they sent a message was to explain to yu what they were doing.

It sounds like you need to read up on how Managed Payments works:

Re: eBay bank account message

THIS is why I'll never sign up for managed payments. I refuse to give them a bank account full of MY money to do with as they please, whenever they please. You don't even have a chance to move funds anymore... Keep funds on eBay until they decide to release them, keep funds in your bank account in case eBay decides to INSTANTLY dip into MY money.

And the amounts you need to keep "floating" for eBay's grab and hold processing, plus your bank account that they can reach into any time they please, with or without explanation, will continue to grow and grow.... This isn't my business anymore.

Luckily for EVERYONE... eBay is one of the smaller fish in the sea these days. Plenty of other options out there who are stealing more of what's left of eBay's share of e-commerce every day.

Funny that eBay is trying to implode the business rather than just unload it.

I love it when one of my posts gets an instant reaction... even if it is from a MOD.

Re: eBay bank account message

I had MORE than enough in PayPal to cover funds, so that's not why they sent the email.

^^^ Lucky you. I fear for the lot of sellers that will suffer overdrafts. I still keep a CC on file as my Automatic Payment method, for this reason (and for the surprise large refund), but don't know how long that will remain allowed.

Agree, they sent me the same message when they debited my checking for the $0.30 transaction fee on a cancelled buyer purchase.

Re: eBay bank account message

Thanks. I received the same type of email. I knew it was for Fedex shipping charges. But the email is really confusing.  Especially when they say "The reason for this charge was because you didn’t have enough available funds to pay what you owed for previous transactions."  The first couple of things that came to my mind was "What do you mean I didn't have enough available funds? Is there something in my account that is not set up correctly?"   And, "Are you charging me a penalty for not having sufficient funds?"  It is really misleading. I am sure they have someone around that can think of a better way to inform you on what they are doing.

Re: eBay bank account message

I lost about $100 in insufficient funds fees for buying 3 stamps. The just added an option to have it taken from the funds they send you, but I'm still ttrying to recover from that financial hit. Being that I don't have funds in my account, you can imagine that I'm not financially wealthy or even well off.

Go to you r payment options and switch it to take the money from available funds that buyers paid you.

If you haven't before, this is the time to shift to other selling sources where you might be able to avoid your money going to the wrong places.
