Forcing you to give your checking account with routing number and Social Security number . I am not a big seller I just sold a few things I never used that I had then eBay locked my account AFTER selling some stuff saying I had to update my account. I refused to give my private information. I called eBay and of course I was tossed around from one person to another. I asked them why PayPal doesn’t ask you that kind of private information they allow you to use your bank card like a credit card and do two small deposits with one withdrawal to verify. If you are a business they only require your EIN number.  Never do they ask you for your private information. Brittany from eBay the last woman I was talking to said well PayPal is a Financial company and a eBay is a market place. Ok so that supposed to make me feel comfortable giving Them my private information? That is supposed to tell me it’s Secure to do so? I had to ship the stuff I sold to the people because I’m not a jerk but eBay won’t give me my money. I told Britney I was deleting my account she sent me the link. Once I know the people received what they purchased ( because I’m honest)  and want to make sure they got it even though it cost me money. I WAS a victim of fraud twice. My SS# was stolen and it ended up freezing my tax returns and the second time I had my bank account drained. I was told by the police to NEVER give your SS # out other than in person and never give your routing # out unless it’s in person or a government site which have very high security and Only if you need to exp: direct deposit tax return. I have never given it out since. There is NO good reason eBay needs that. They have documentation they took the sales tax out. Personally I think anyone that got ripped off by eBay and they will not give them their money back need to get together and sue eBay.

It is a problem that has been plaguing the forums since Late March 2020 and has not yet been fixed.  

It is because you are trying to copy and paste something into your post other than a link to something.  Now when I want to post part of a policy or something, I have to take a snipit of it and create a pic.  Same with any rather standard responses I make on certain subjects, I have them written in MS Word.  I can't cut and paste them either.  I have to take a snipit and create a pic.

Well, seems like the court is going to have to make that  determination. eBay has a presence here District of NY if you like you can come on down and vigorously present your defense as you appear to be the main crusader on behalf of eBay's MP. You have made so many mistakes throughout your journey selling this FAUX it is unforgivable. 

I know you have to fill your quota by February 3, 2021 02:00 PM PT Q4 2020 Earnings Call

you are going to be short one. On many occasions, you attested that the program is flawed or need retooling. You would be better served by making an appeal to your principals to make  appropriate addendums to the contract you and eBay allegedly violated many times between their sellers so as to benefit the best interest within their own favor. Acting in the capacity as a payment facilitator their license should have already been revoked by the FTC.

No, I am not enrolled, yet to be forcefully onboarded by receiving threat notices. 

However, I am not going to wait until I come down with an acute case of Invasion of the Body Snatchers inflicted by eBay to make my case that sellers on eBays platform are now become endangered species.

btw @mam98031 I like the 1978 version of the movie . Since you are doing the snatching which version do you prefer?

I think it is just personal preference really.  I use my SSN as I see the risk roughly the same.

eBay have alleged to have violated the scope of its contract with sellers on the part of eBay's MPP most sellers too far from California or NY incapable to mount any kind of legal action when eBay will not even field customer svc calls.

I am in agreement and am therefore going to go ahead with the SSN...why have another number out there for a scammer to use...another number to monitor and worry over.

I was hoping that the EIN would have reduced the risk but I don't think so after reading that article.

Yeah I saw this. I won’t be selling on eBay any longer for that and many other reasons. There’s way too many options out there other than a eBay. 20 years ago when I started eBay was the only place to go now my gosh there’s dozens.

Careful with the info you offer.  There is a HUGE difference between an account getting hacked and a Site being hacked.  To my knowledge Etsy has never had the site hacked.  I could be wrong, but I don't ever remember that happening and I've sold there for years.

Individual accounts getting hacked happen on most sites.  This past spring I had my PP account hacked for the first time ever.  Pretty scary stuff to be sure.
