*What* is going on with ebay.

I sold an old Garmin GPS yesterday, for a whopping ten dollars, a little over twenty with shipping. So late in the day, I print out a label for about eight bucks. Today I get an email from them saying please pay your fees, like I'm late or something. Then an hour later another email telling me they took the fees from bank account.

Is ebay going broke and having to hound customers for money twelve hours after a transaction? Or is this simply equity / diversity hire problems coming home to roost?

Good luck with that. Recently I refunded back to a buyer part of the shipping they paid that I did not use. I called ebay and said what the heck and the lady told me they dont do refunds on fees any more in a case like that. I guess the 25% we pay in "fees" is not enough...and yes it is 25% and not the claimed 12.5%...if you add in the FVF we pay on shipping...if we are being honest that is ridiculous...

It's still 12.5% on the total amount the buyer paid.

No, Ebay never has refunded fee's on a partial refund.

Have a great day.

@poohbear1954

Part of it is probably due to the automated messages they send.

If I buy anything from a seller and do not pay immediately (like waiting for other items to close so I can get combined shipping) I start getting emails and ebay messages about needing to pay. After 24 hours I get more messages.

If I buy multiple items from a seller, I can request a combined shipping total. (It may take 24-48 hours) I still get pestered to pay for the items even though it is in process.

It is just the way it is. I would double check, but it does not sound like anything "unusual"

If there is money involved, they will pester you to no end.

Nope...the fees you pay on shipping are ridiculous, and everyone, except for you  that is, thinks so. I could see paying 3% like you might pay for a credit card transaction, but 12.5% ? It is greedy, unethical, and ebay has done stuff like that because they think they are a monopoly...that has changed...

It is hard to believe that a relatively new seller knows what or how 19 MILLION sellers think or feel.  So I doubt that you speak for everyone.

Ebay has charged fees on shipping for over 11 years now.

Ebay is not now nor has it every been a "monopoly".  There are all kinds of similar sites out there to choose from.  Nor is Ebay the only site that charges fees on shipping.  Nor was Ebay the first site to even start charging fees on shipping.

I wish you well in whatever you decide to do.

Are you sure the fees were for your current sale or was if for some older sales?

tyler@ebay

jasmen@ebay

velvet@ebay

Is this another issue we are suddenly having.  I've actually seen this or similar reported by a few sellers just in the last few days.

Thanks for tagging us @mam98031 looks like the OP was able to get to the bottom of it. Thanks for your added insights as well!

Good to know, they didn't post anything about resolving the issue or how they resolved it.

@poohbear1954

How did you resolve the issue?

Re: *What* is going on with ebay.

LOL...I did my first auction on ebay in 1996, back before PayPal when you had to mail money orders, so I have three years on you. But whatever, you are correct, there are too many other options out there. Just opened a Reverb account today and will move there, for starters. Life is too short and getting shorter every day. I guess as long as everyone is making money, that is all that matters, am I right?

OK, I did not know we were competing for who started selling first.  Congratulations on your other account that you have sold under.

Still this gives you no more insight into what "all sellers" think or believe or prefer as your previous claim.  I get it, it was simply an overstatement not meant to get anyone's dander up.  Your statement was ".the fees you pay on shipping are ridiculous, and everyone, except for you  that is, thinks so."  In which you also assumed you knew what I thought of the FVF on shipping too.

You never did answer what it was that you sold that had a 25% FVF on Ebay????
